Hi all! I'm sure this has been done to death but what dressage girths do people use? I have a PDS dressage relief girth (I think it's called that?) but it's sadly too short for my new horse. I can't afford to buy another one of those girths right now sadly. He has had a sarcoid removed where the girth goes so I'm going to get a sheepskin cover for whatever girth I buy. I have looked at the Fairfax Polite girth but I've read that it can rub and is quite hard? Any opinions welcome! Ideally I'd like to spend less than £150 on the girth and a sheepskin cover. Thanks :)

I have a prolite for one of mine (the other has a fairfax but little cob needed a narrow gauge and I wasn't prepared to cough up for another fairfax, lol)

I'm a happy customer. Horse is comfortable, no rubs or hardness, actually it's softer and more supple than the fairfax. Easy to keep clean etc. I've had it just over a year and it's used most days, still looks new. I think it's a good girth.

I too use a Prolite girth on one of mine - who has ridiculously sensitive skin - with no rubs or problems. I don't necessarily buy all the Fairfax/Prolite hype about it's fabby-wabby shape, etc. but they are perfectly good girths, and there are similar ones out there for less.

I have a prolite for both dressage and jump saddle on a sensitive mare and I'm a fan re the fit and comfort for the horse who had been showing signs of being a little girthy prior to using (had saddle fitted etc).

Only down side is if you wash them off give yourself plenty time to dry before next use as they seem to soak up water and can take an age to dry out!

I've got the prolite fairfax and it hasn't rubbed my sensitive ginger and I'd say it was soft, certainly comparable to the very expensive passier leather one that rubbed her raw. It's also softer than the leather fairfax one I think.
Only downside is cleaning it - it picks up sweat and scum very easily but also soaks up water like a sponge and takes ages to dry. I have resorted to wiping the inner surface with a baby wipe every time I ride now - tedious!

I think I'm going to get a Prolite and the LeMieux fairfax girth cover. Is there anywhere that sells them both? I'm struggling to find somewhere that does because I'm stingy and don't want to have to pay two lots of shipping unless I have to haha. How does the sizing come up on the Prolite? I can just about squeeze my boy into a 26inch but a 30 goes to about two from top and gets in the way of my saddle pad. Would a 28 be my best bet?

I use a professional choice Ventech girth on my easily rubbed horse. It has nice soft edging, is easy to clean and non-slip
