Well I have a Albion K2 jumping saddle and sadly my wintec girth is now falling apart. In your opinions what are the best girths on the market nowadays?
I have a Professionals Choice girth on my jumping saddle. I used to have a thorowgood one but wanted something with elastic on both ends and wasn't keen on a leather one. There are a few Wintec girths on my yard but they don't seem to wear very well - it seems like the binding goes hard and then cracks after a while - ouch.
I have the one with neoprene lining and really rate it - my horse seems really comfortable and it is also quite grippy. Easy to look after as well. They also come with sheepskin lining.
If you're after a budget version, Shires have copied it now, but the neoprene doesn't seem as wide. I prefer the Prof Choice one personally.
I like my Wintec chafeless the best. No girths last forever and they are not enormously expensive & def last 2-3 years. Much nicer than the thorogood IMO.
i've got the wintecs and am very happy with them. have very thick padded leather girths with central elastic which are super-comfy too. also old string kieffer girths which are great.
i am using D&T lemico girths at the moment and i love them. the lemico is a breathable performance material so i find it doesnt collect the moisture and rub
The leather is nice - needed oiling at first but is now lovely and soft, and I love the way it comes back from his legs. A tip though - remember to put it on the right way round (got it wrong once, and the results weren't pretty...doh).
