I have a bad habit of letting the reins slip through my fingers. I currently use dressage reins which have one side covered with rubber. I don't particularly like the double sided thick rubber reins as I find them very bulky. Am currently trying continental reins with stops. Can anyone recommend something else I could try?

Are you still slipping with the continentals? I found they stopped me from slipping. There are rubber reins that are thinner and softer = less bulky in the hand, best thing to do I find is to go to a tack shop and actually see/feel. Have you tried gloves?

As Above I hate rubber reins, and love continental reins

I love these for less bulk, more comfort in the hand and less slip. The stops are very close together which is excellent.

They have lasted a disappointingly short length of time before the rubber has started to come off, but will be getting another pair anyway I like them so much.

i have these ones. Not had them that long to know if they last. They are quite thin and very obvious stops on them. Didn’t think I’d like them but they’re fine. Seems to help me keep an even length of rein too.

I prefer all-leather continental reins, I can't get on with anything rubbery really. but the stops definitely remind me to keep my fingers closed around the reins. My fave ones are from Sabre and they put the stops where I wanted them :D

I used to use bio-grip reins but found them rather slippy when wet so have changed to very old fashioned webbing reins - the sort that are braided rope and children used in the 1970's. They're nice to hold and non-slippy however I have no idea if anyone makes them anymore.

Thanks everyone for your replies. My hands are better with the continental reins but I have a pair of plaited reins to also try. I wear super trippy gloves. Would like to see and feel a pair of the bio gloves before buying. Thanks for your help x
