Our new stables once built will be on a hardcore base so I intend to put rubber matts over the top. Can anyone recommend the best rubber matting for this (and any to stay away from)? I assume I shouldn't get matting which is too stiff/rigid as it wont mould over the imperfections of the surface underneath? I've only seen one other stable block like this and they used cow matting (thinner than usual horse matting).

No idea really whether it will work on hardcore but my new stable has a rather uneven flagstone floor and I bought thick eva mats which are pretty stiff... I levelled up the gaps temporarily with some bedding but am planning on re-laying with sand underneath to fill the gaps as I think that will be more stable. Could you do something similar if you have any bumps or hollows when they are done?

So far so good for mine, though - I much prefer them to the old 18mm heavy mats I had before.
