One of the ponies I have at the moment has mutton withers, but isn't wide. I can usually get away with using one of three saddles on everything I ride, but he's impossible to fit anything to!
Presumably there are certain brands and types that fit these types of ponies. He'd need a fairly straight cut saddle (cringe) to help it to stay behind his shoulders, but it'd have to have a fairly flat seat as saddles that fit around the withers sit off his back. Front riser pads just cause them to slip forward.
Anyone have experience?
