I am hoping to install some arena mirrors on the short side of my 20x40 outdoor, the arena is cut into a hill so excellent natural windbreak. I am not sure on the best set up/placement of the mirrors, I don’t think my budget would stretch to a full 20m length of mirrors but I have been a bit spoilt and don’t have experience of usingother set ups – could anyone suggest what would be best? Looking on google I’ve seen;
2 mirrors at each end, 3 in the middle
as above but the end mirrors are full length
5 all in the middle
5 all together starting from one corner
other??

We have a few mirrors at my yard and IMO they are not used well.

One at the end of each long side in portrait orientation is great because you can see yourself coming the whole way down. (sadly we only have one like this!)
These are good for lateral work, checking straightness and I do flying changes on the track so I can see if they are correct/straight etc.

We then have 2 mirrors in portrait on the centre line - this is daft IMO, if they were landscape you could see yourself passing by them much more easily, and for longer, as well as progressing towards them.

So if I had 5 to play with, I'd put 1 at the end of each long side (portrait), and 3 in the middle landscape.

lucky you! enjoy them.

I've got this arrangement except using 4 mirrors (my budget wouldn't strectch to 5!). Rather than having the two middle landscape mirrors with a join at C, the mirror peeps suggested having a whole mirror in the middle and two halves on the outside, if that makes sense.

It works well.

Mirrors are great, I can keep tabs on my wonkiness as well as checking on the horse!

great idea about putting the joins on the sides. It does my head in riding into a join, esp as one is cracked so it's all a bit squint!
