This is a message for all horse owners that hack out on the road.
TO BEWARE OF A RED 4 X 4 REG K791 PLT.

The driver of this vehicle has intentionally hit one of the horses on our
yard - Nigel (aka the Allen and Page horse) - he was out hacking with
another horse when, despite the riders signals for him to slow down so they
could move out of his path, he held his hand on the car's horn and drove into
them.

Whilst the horse was down he stopped and started hurling abuse at the
riders.

Nigel has sustained bad injuries and has been admitted to his vets in
Newmarket - we are awaiting further results.

The rider - has suffered bruising and shock but is thankfully ok.

The driver has admitted to the police what he did - in fact he was quite
proud of his actions - his attitude shocking the police in attendance.

This man is a landscape gardener.
PLEASE BEWARE OF HIM.

Bloody hell - what a nutter - he should be jailed, he is using his car as a weapon, if the police take this lightly he WILL kill someone.........I could quite happily put a gun to this moron's head and have no qualms about pulling the trigger. bastard.
 
Why is he still out and about if the police have full record of what he's done? Surely at the most he has been arrested and if out is on bail? It sounds pretty serious to me and i would have expected (and pushed for) immediate action from the police.
 
Good God! Is he insane? Every possible good vibe for Nigel's recovery.

Have the police arrested him for dangerous driving? Presumably his car was damaged and is off the road.

Hope Nigel and rider make a full recovery, and this moron is taken off the roads.

I do hope the horse and rider make a full recovery, I also would like to get my hands on the driver and shove one of my flocking irons in one of his orifices!

A similar thing happened locally to us many years ago, in that instance by a group of car theives, off their heads on something. The matter was taken very seriously by our local force (which may or may not have been related to the fact that the rider was a police offivers wife!) It did have one fortunate after effect, in the the local force continued to take dangerous driving around horses very seriously for a good long time afterwards.
 
If I didn't know better I would say he was the local gardener near us, he's a maniac too..
Last time he and I met I was driving the box along a single track road with passing places and had pulled out to see if the road was clear, it was so I carried on, meeting him 3/4 of the way towards the next wide bit.
The abuse was incredible, he looked so red faced I worried he would have a heart attack with rage.. He too has been seen to drive at riders when held up.
Thankfully I haven't met him for a while so I do hope it isn't him that's moved to your area..from the description it could well be him...
Poor riders and poor horse. I hope they throw the book at him but probably he'll just get told off...

That is one of the worst things I have ever heard.
I hope Nigel makes it and hope the guy is jailed. Whilst I feel for the horse the fact is the rider could have been killed. Hope a judge takes this very seriously.

Just watching drag hunting on telly, had this wonderful idea for sickos like him, why cant we let people like him loose in a big field and hunt them down on horse back, give them a bit of a head start to make it a bit more fun tho, turn the tables on the ba**ards!!!!!

Need I say anything at all, just how did we manage to breed so much fekkin shite in this country, he's actually proud of his actions, it says it all.
Whats the sentence for attempted murder, because as others say, thats exactly what it is.
 
Peter - I see you have omitted the man's name (obviously for legal reasons on an open forum). From the emails that have been sent to me, the man is well-known locally and has driven at horses before, but not actually hit any. Local riders are terrified of meeting him.

Luckily Nigel is now home and although scarred, is expected to make a full physical recovery. Although it remains to be seen if he will ever be ok to be ridden in traffic again. The rider was terrible shaken and shocked at the abuse hurled at her while Nigel lay on the ground.
 
Surely with someone as dangerous as this they should be arrested and kept in a cell until tried and put in a mental institution "before" he kills someone, he is obviously a danger to the public, driving at people wont be the only thing is he is liable to do

Is there nothing someone like the BHS or RSPCA can do? I know driving at a horse or deliberately scaring them isn't illegal (although actually hitting one probably is). But it seems to me to be cruelty at least. If enough witnesses will contact the police and / or the relevant rescue organisation is there anything more than can be done or will it just make him worse?
 
Very pleased that Nigel is on the mend, and hopefully will be able to go out on the road again with no loss of confidence.

I'm amazed that this lunatic appears to still be out on our roads prepared to attempt to cause death by dangerous driving, and the police know this, having been in attendance when Nigel was hit.

I'd love to know what he said to the police when he explained what he'd done and why.

This is probably the most insane thing I have heard in a long while! Words fail...

So glad the horse is OK, but what an ordeal! Must be something about gardeners in red vans! We had a similar lunatic in Yorkshire.
 
How horrid. I desperately hope that his actions are taken seriously and that he's actually charged with something. How dreadful for the poor horse and rider involved.

I also hope he has the total shit kicked out of him for being such a prick.

Why on earth is this complete nutter still allowed on the road! Like others have said it is attemped murder and he should be locked up or sectioned!!

If i were the Nigel's rider i would stop at nothing to make sure he doesnt see the light of day for a very long time!

Where exactly is this man from so poeple in the area can be aware?
