bhs exams

Hi i recentley took part in a PTT bhs exam and was horrified at the way we were all treated by one of the examiners. she was quite elderly and as you can guess we were all quite nervous, and she did nothing to put us at our ease. she was very rude and if you said anything to her she kept saying "talk is cheap" whatever than is supposed to mean. I think it is a good thing that this new coaching qualification is coming in perhaps the EQA will pension the oldess off. Any one had problems during BHS exams?

There was an examiner like this when we were at college doin our bhs exams proberbly the same one, doesn't help when you are already nervous though

I got reduced to tears in my stage 2 exam because the examiner was so horrid :S I dont know why they do it!

Not had any problems with examiners personally, but I do think the whole BHS exams system is a bit daft. The dress code is a shining example of how outdated some of the BHS teaching is! I also hope the new coaching certificates will blow some of the cobwebs away.

Yes when i did my stage 3 some of them were really quite mean, i'm sure they do it on purpose to make you feel worse!!

Actually I think the BHS has tried very hard to move with the times, and I don't think the teaching is outdated. As to the dress code, if you are doing only Care, you are allowed to wear trousers and a tidy jacket, and if you are doing the Riding, you are expected to wear proper riding clothes, just as if you were at a show. How is that outdated?

They are also very concerned that all examiners should be fair, impartial, and that they are trained to put candidates at their ease, so if one is not doing so, you are perfectly entitled to write to the BHS and tell them.

If you don't want to tell them but would like them to know anyway, just PM me with the details and I will raise it for you unofficially with the relevant person.
