BIG distraction in a dressage test at Oasby

:D:D:D What a lovely mare! I hope she got a super score for that alone....ah I see she got a very good score; well deserved.
 
I'm amazed they didn't stop the test!! The horse and rider did really well to do their best to ignore the loose horse, but it was actually impeding their route round the arena fgs!!

I remember being at a BE event with one of my kids and he was last to go in his section and all the other sections were finished, the arena tidiers came over with a rattling ivor williams trailer and 4x4 and started to dismantle the next arena, BE steward raced over in his car and stopped them and asked if he wanted to restart his test because it was so distracting. It was nothing compared to a crazy loose horse that is determined to get into the arena with you!!
 
if it had been BD i am sure they would have stopped the test, i was surprised they didnt stop it even though the horse was being really good that loose horse could have barged into it and caused some damage. well done horse and rider!!!

Totally agree. One pass was bad enough, but after the third, she should have been stopped and allowed to do the test again. Having said that, what a great partnership!
 
I wondered whether because she is pro they figured they would let her decide? Saying that I still think she should have been stopped.

I do kind of want to see the winning test.
 
A friend regularly helps at ODE’s.
She was watching ‘her’ horse when a lab and a spaniel joined in. They followed the horse through most of the test. The horse disregarded them completely. There are many dogs at it’s stables!
At another test it rained so hard the rider went back to the judges car, stopped beside it and said “ Can you see me to judge? Because I can’t see where I’m going. “
 
Good on her, but I think I would have stopped, not least because that distraction would be enough for me to completely forget the test 🙈

When I was on a yard without a school I did used to school Dabs in an arena marked out in a field that often had YO's horses in. Her big horse paid no attention to us but her sec C welshie used to merrily join in from time to time. He would trot round behind us following what we did and then would pull an overtaking manoeuvre and stop in front of us 😂. On one occasion he even pulled a stop, drop and roll move in front of us...got to love a Welsh pony sense of humour!
 
I'd have been decked by an over-excited Appy who would have then joined in the running around - very well behaved horse. Surprised rider remembered the test.
 
Well done horse and rider, but I also agree that I would have asked test to stop and restart when horse was caught.
