Billets or Buckles?

I’m having a wild New Years ? and am shopping for new Pelham roundings. I’ve always had billets, purely as that’s what I’ve always had. No real rhyme or reason. But seems that it’s really difficult to find English leather roundings with billets.

What’s your preference? Buckles or billets?!

Buckles are types of billets, but I think you mean hook studs. Which I prefer as they look neater to me

Buckles because if the billet (tongue) breaks at least there is still something holding on to the rein a bit.

Back when I was eventing, buckles were advised on safety grounds. The billet (tongue) doesn't break as easily because the bend of the leather through the buckle is taking some of the strain.

What is the rest of your bridle? Matching that will look smartest.

Buckles. I recently took my bridle apart and getting the billets undone was a trauma.

Buckles. I have arthritic fingers.

I only use hook stud fastenings on showing tack, buckles for anything more fast and furious.

I think brass curved buckles look nicest .
