so new horsey is still being just wonderful and had another great lesson, but dont really like the tack she has come with, including her loose ring snaffle that seems too fat for her mouth and also too small at 5 1/2inches. Want to get another bit, pref not a loose ring tho, not sure whether just to get an eggbutt snaffle or have to splash out on something fancy as getting loads of recommendations on yard for things like neue schule verbinend or a myler. Shes a lovely soft mouth but can lean on my hands a little, instructor thinks because she is so unfit and works too long.

So do i get an ebutt snaffle and school school school, or is it worth getting something else to help me?

thanks

i'd try schooling as you don't want to try buying bits which cost over £40 until you have to. Also loose ring should help stop her leaning. if she is unfit she will lean on anything if the muscles ache but may back off the bit if you stick anything too fancy in. stick with schooling for now!! a nice fitting normal bit is definately the way to go.

How about asking your instructor? It's easier to recommend bits when you can see how the horse goes
