Just a bit of one. When I bought my little cob I knew she was a laid back, safe small cob.I didn't think I was buying a wired to the eyeballs warm blood.Safe little cob is what I wanted and what I got.I am elederly and with limited nerve. I am sick of people saying to me "Oh she is so lazy isn't she?" Mind your own business especially as she goes better for me.

How lovely that you have found the right horse, to suit you, and that you are having such fun with her.

You are too polite! Your mare is perfect for you, they are just empty vessels making noise- no knowledgeable horse person would make such derogatory remarks.

Do you want us to concoct the perfect barbed put down for you to use if it happens again? There are some sharp minds on here…
Yes

You’ve got the dream in my opinion. I know it’s annoying when people comment on your horse because we love them, truth is it really doesn’t matter what people think, as above a lot will be secretly envious whilst they ping around slightly scared on their fancy pants warm bloods.
My favourite ever horse (which really surprised me was a little super cob)
I’d kill for one, I just couldn’t afford one.
Lucky you!

I think you need to re read the replies you got when you last posted on this subject. Basically tell them to get lost!

Yes because she is on full livery with exercise but soon I will be changing yards.
Sorry what!! Your on full livery and staff are commenting?!
I work a bit on a livery yard and I’d never dream of commenting to an owner about their horse In a bad way, that so so unprofessional!

I hope your next yard is a much nicer place that you are happy in x

Greetings from an old lady riding a safe little cob! 👍

They're just jealous. Laugh & tell them so.
It's hard being young. You have to ride something that looks good on SM even if you're terrified of it.

Enjoy her & feel sorry for the image chasers.

My opinion on this is that too many people have no fun at all with their horses, because they have overhorsed themselves, and become afraid of them. They then pay a fortune on trainers and lessons to try to fix a relationship which will never be a fit. I know, because I did it myself, and I kick myself that I kept trying for 5 years, rather than just selling, and buying a sane and sensible horse, such as the ones that I now have.

You have done exactly the right thing in buying a horse who suits YOU. Perhaps it is not the horse that staff at the yard most enjoy, but their job is to exercise the horse, not to comment upon your choice. Your cob sounds like a wonderful fit for you - well done finding such a gem.

I've said it a few times, but you really need to test for type 1 pssm. Youve described this horse as having several red flags for it before. People dont tend to refer to laid back horses as lazy or in a derogatory way, but I have known lot of people comment on my PSSM mare before diagnosis, saying that she was lazy. I think lots of people pick up that theres something but dont know what and laziness is the easiest thing to put it down to.

"No, she just mirrors the rider's effort."
You can add the word Actually before or after No, if you want to.

Or if you're feeling really grumpy, perhaps:
"Your lack of riding ability is not my cob's problem, and she knows it."

I won't ever forget when my mums friend got denied livery because she had a cob and the owner didn't want her yard to look like a "gypsy" site

Only a year or so ago I was advised by a livery owner who was showing me around in case I wanted to move there not to tell anyone that my horse was half a standardbred from a racing trotter mare.
