Bit suggestions please

for an IDXTB mare. She hates pelhams/kimblewicks/waterford gag and evades them by tucking her head in or sticking it in the air. She leans on anything unjointed and just ignores the happy mouth hanging cheek which she seems to like. She appears to have a small mouth and big tongue as it is often visible out of the sides of her mouth when bitted.

Suggestions?
 
Her teeth are fine. We had a wolf tooth removed a couple of years ago (when I owned her before) as thought this might be the reason.

Anything gentle she just doesn't listen, it's as though she has forgotten what pressure on the bit means. Anything stronger, she responds but obviously not happy as mouth open, head in air or tucked in to chest as soon as contact picked up
 
Shae has a small space to fit a bit into because of her fleshy tongue. Try a mullen mouth bit. IME horses with ID type/cob type mouths do not go well in snaffles as the link tends to hit them in the roof of the mouth. Other than that I would look elsewhere for the cause of the discomfort.
 
My gelding evades by tucking behind the bit , likes to get his tongue over the bit and has a large tongue and relatively small mouth. I have just changed to a myler and it is like riding a different horse. He now will actually take a contact and doesnt keep messing about with the bit like he used to. I guessed this was the answer some time ago but resisted due to the price but found a second hand one in my local tack shop which they were willing to lend me (now purchased). It worked from ride one!
 
I have been looking at mylers on eBay so I might go that route. Anyone have a 5.5 inch snaffle with hooks they want to sell?

Why don't you try a myler off a bitbank so if she doesn't like it you haven't lost your money? I have my mare in a myler hanging cheek because the hanging cheek makes it move less in her mouth (contrary to popular belief, there isn't really poll pressure). Mylers are great because they don't squeeze the tongue.
 
My mare is ISH and she has a big tongue and low palate. Finally I have found she is best in a KK Dynamic with a lozenge. She just doesn't have much room in her mouth.

This also means I can use the universal for jumping and the eggbutt for anything else, both have the same mouthpiece and I like keeping things the same ;)
