OK I'll try and keep this short...my mare went off on holidays Mid-may for weaning purposes..took about threee weeks for bags to deflate...still never gone compleatly as pre foal days..but no heat, hardness, ect ect...so today she's had her feet trimmed and went back into the field like a crazy fool had a mad 15 mins then head down...went to put them in the lower field an she was dripping milk :confused: once it stopped I had a small squeeze and nothing there...whats going on??? is there anything I can do to ensure she dries up fully....she's due back to me and her son early Sept so could do with it sorting as dont want him getting ideas?? thanks for any advice :)

Also in breeding and Vets!!

It can take months for the udder to completely stop producing milk so there is probably a bit to go yet. The udder won't 'bag up' like it used to but will still produce a little, I would imagine that her racing around has just caused the udder to release a little of what is there.

It is most likely that she wouldn't let her son suckle now anyway. They usually recommend 3 weeks apart for weaning and by that time the mare will be enjoying her new found freedom and will firmly tell foalie to go away!
