Bitten by YO’s dog

I would def move, your horse could get bitten by the dog too if you stay! I would keep quiet until you leave though, people can get angry and you don’t want your horse being at risk.

I have no idea if it has bitten anyone else. Yeah, I’m thinking that too about witnesses. Anyway, my horse’s safety comes first. YO finally spoke to me again today, four days later, and after my telling her what I thought of her as a dog owner, she asked if I wanted to give a month’s notice, clearly expecting me to bottle it as she was really shocked when I said yes and actually asked me to repeat it.
I saw a place yesterday, no good, not even short term, and seeing another tomorrow, asking someone else who I’m sure will be able to help and also seeing another place on Thursday that will be short term. I need to put him first, then I’ll be after her. 💪
Well done, hope all goes well for you. I feel sorry for the dog having such a negligent owner putting its life at risk.

I’m a courier and I’ve had a few misses. As we have a dog that is classed as ‘dangerous’ I’m a lot more aware than some people but I’ve still had a few close calls and it’s surprising how many people I work with have been bitten. For this reason if there is any signs up about dogs I will not enter any gardens, etc to leave parcels as it’s not worth the risk.

Having now spoken to other liveries, it has bitten many of them as well as the horses.
It’s a Romanian rescue and 💯 cannot be trusted, yet YO persists in letting it run around on the yard.
So I am not the first by a long way and am trying to get out asap.

Hmmm. I expect she is waiting for you to come after her for insurance compensation and that's why she has been non committal, she doesn't want to accept liability which she would be by apologising.

I hope you find somewhere suitable very
Screw the notice pack you stuff leave with the horse then report to the police and dog warden.

That’s what I would do.
thanks, I’m just trying to find somewhere. Hopefully later this afternoon I’ll have somewhere to go. 🤞

It definitely needs reporting, that is not on.

OP I've only just seen this. I really hope you can move soon. Your YO sounds awful and they ought to be made to realise that they can't just let their dog bite people 😡

BTW. They don't give tetanus injections anymore for dog bites apparently. OH was bitten by a dog and they just said to keep an eye on it.

Hope you get out, soon! Do you get on with the other liveries? Just wondering if they could be called on as witnesses/fellow victims? I also wonder if she's got adequate Public Liability insurance. A livery yard is classified as a public space, so this will certainly expose whether or not she has it. Having a street dog roaming a yard is idiotic. These dogs often only have negative experiences of humans prior to being taken off the street, so always have an element of unpredictability.

They do it on a case by case basis. OH was attacked on Boxing Day 2023 and was advised to get a tetanus as he didn't know how many he had received.

What part of the country are you, as some people here my know yards that maybe slightly further or smaller yards you may not know or facebook groups you can post in

Yes I get on fine with them. 🙂 It would indeed. Thank you for the thoughts.

Neither did OH. I was appalled at the time, as he definitely hadn't had one for at least 15 years or so and couldn't remember before that.

Updated that various people have been in contact outside the yard that have been bitten by the dog. None of them have taken it any further. It has also mauled at least two horses, needing vet care. I’m desperate to go, had one offer from a lovely lady, if the visit on Friday doesn’t happen (she keeps putting me off).

Ok, so we’ve moved and it’s bliss. I still have to go back for the rest of my stuff over the weekend, but we are on our own again and yet surrounded by horses from the huge yard next door. I unfortunately cracked my head at work so after a visit to UTC, I’ve not been driving for a couple of days. Thank goodness for public transport.
Once I have all my stuff out, I will be putting a claim for damages in and notifying the 👮. Thank you for all the messages, it’s really helped. 🙂

I’m so glad you found a nice place! I hope it all gets better and hopefully the dog will change into a move well behaved boy/girl!

Glad you made the move but bad news about being bitten by a dog the new place sounds amazing has any more people moved away from the yard you were on

Oh were you all up to date the Tetus injections 🤔
