I ride my mare in a KK DS trans lozenge fulmer which she goes happily in but I seem to be having a few issues with brakes when out cantering in company.
She just takes a hold of it and off she goes and there is little I can do other than lean back and haul on her mouth to get her to stop. I obviously dont want to keep doing this and would rather just ask her to come back to me and stop.
Part of the problem may be a schooling issue as she doesnt always tank off - she is Ok 90% of the time but I just feel I need a little bit extra until I can build up our confidence and tackle the real issue. Can anyone suggest anything?
I have tried a copper roller, loose ring french link and myler comfort but none do the trick. She is in a cavesson noseband and using a drop helped with the myler bit but then realised the myler was too big and changed to the KK. I cant use the drop with the fulmer mouthpiece as it gets in the way. I dont use keepers though - would this give me more control?
