Is any one heading up this year? It's the last ever one. The weather's not looking too promising for Thursday/Friday but I'm really looking forward to it while having a tinge of sadness too
a tinge of sadness too
Ah I was speaking to him on Monday, he was out doing my two’s teeth. I thought it was rumoured to be moving to Scone Palace but he said that was all a lot of nonsense that someone started. Hopefully it will ‘relocate’ as such but it is an end of an era, such a lovely setting too.Huge amount of sadness from us, we've been going every year for well over 30 years, we first took our son as a toddler then enjoyed watching him competing there when he was older and have great fun meeting friends each year. We head up on Tuesday with our dogs, we're having a non horsey day on Wednesday, though may pop by for the trot ups and will be there throughout the event, coming home on Monday. Our son went up today, he works as part of the FEI stable management team for the week, hard work but fun and his way of giving back to the sport.
Gosh that will be quite a drive! But definitely worth while for the last one.I am, first time since we moved to Wales went for 10 years before that
Bring clothes for all seasons. It can be baltic in the morning, lash with rain and then split the sky with sun and wear suitable footwear. Also something you can sit on is a bonus too- whether that’s a stool or a blanket/jumper.I'm going for the first time! Friday, my friend is competing. Any hints would be hugely appreciated
It would be great if another venue could start something but it would be a big undertaking to set up. I once got so wet I had to buy an entirely new wardrobe.I'm going for the first time! Friday, my friend is competing. Any hints would be hugely appreciated
I don't mind driving north I miss the Highlands.Gosh that will be quite a drive! But definitely worth while for the last one.
Peglo you will need several pairs of trainers as well as decent boots and plenty waterproofs
If it's been a dry Summer and forecast is looking good(haha, not this year!) I've managed to wear my converse. If it looks wet I'll pop the Dubarrys on. This year I think it'll be the Dubarrys! You'd probably get away with a walking boot type too.Suitable footwear as in boots? Or would you get away with trainers?
I’m also excited for the stalls and hoping I find a few things to buy.
I never noticed the wasps but it's always tricky to get a seat. I think we normally give up and just sit on the grass. Not sure what I'll do this year, I don't fancy lugging camping chairs around.I was hoping to wear shorts but not looking likely now, drizzled all day long last year on the friday, sadly only have the option of the one day as that is my rest day. I am gonna take a chair in a bag i think, trying to get a seat to even eat lunch last year was a nightmare and the wasps were horrific
I bought the ones from asda with a bag, plan to watch cross country so might grab lunch and take it with us. The wasps were only in undercover seating area I noticedI never noticed the wasps but it's always tricky to get a seat. I think we normally give up and just sit on the grass. We take the roll up waterproof picnic blankets. Not lugging chairs about was a game changer!I never noticed the wasps but it's always tricky to get a seat. I think we normally give up and just sit on the grass. Not sure what I'll do this year, I don't fancy lugging camping chairs around.
