This will be a long story so i apologise. The YO had apparently bought 8 fields from a neighbouring farmer, he built his house on one of the fields and also the stables etc. Now apparently the farmer had told the YO that as he had already sold a few things that year (was march) would he mind holding off until the new financial year to give him his money (this was several years ago).
Well from the story i was told from a man that works for the YO, he never paid the farmer, that legal proceedings have been in action for a while and that the YO doesnt even have the deeds for the land.
TBH i took it with a pinch of salt as he wasnt always a reliable source, and i thought this was another tale.
On saturday i was helping out my friend with her livery yard and she has a man that helps her. We got talking and he asked about my horses and where they were stabled, when i told him he repeated the same story, said he knew the farmer and that legally the farmer could come onto the premises and lift anything to pay for the years of interest etc. Now neither boys know each other.
Of course i got worried, but there was more to come. Apparently the farmer had placed a notice that anyone found trespassing on his property would be dealt with (was in local paper) and that he had plans to spray the fields and he would not be held responsible for any harm to any animals that may be in his fields.
Now the address was the farmers own address, but the man at my friends yard said that hes very good mates with the farmer and he told him that to get this man out he is putting weedkiller on the fields whether there is horses out or not. Now thats worrying for me as all mine are out.
I have talked to the YO who is denying all this, he said he legally owns the property, but the thing is. His best friend has removed horses from the yard, also hes brought his own 2 horses in, so only mine are out.
My friend has offered me that if i want to bring my lot over to hers that im welcome, but i love the yard im in and hers doesnt have the things that the current yard has.
Ive tried contacting the farmer but i never get an answer, or when i call up he is never about.
Ive hardly slept a wink since hearing this on saturday, if its true then im so mad that the YO would put my horses at risk like this, as hes telling me to leave them out!
What would yous do?
