A friend said that if enough of a horses ancestors are TB then they are classed as TB, is that right?
My boy is registered as a sports horse but when you go back through his ancestors then 31 of 32 of his great grand parents are TB. I can’t go back any further on the Great Grandparent who is a sport horse.
By my calculations he is 96.9% TB

If he's on sporthorse data, or you can register and add him, it will show the percentage of blood.

French have a separate category AQPS for racehorses that have a bit of something else and here there's the Non tb register here.

Not sure if there's a point at which if you kept breeding horses in the ntr to tbs, they would be allowed into the gsb, Elf would know, but it would have to be recent not looking at great grandparents.

But if you are not racing not sure there's a point, i know more tbs sold as irish sports horses because they are worth more than tbs for the non racing market

Not sure which pedigree site it was (All Breed or Sporthorse Data as the only two I have been on) but, re TB blood, it used to show at the bottom of the page which of the foundation Arabians a horse traced back to. I loved that but haven’t seen it when I’ve searched in recent years.

It was sporthorse data. It's not on the front page anymore as a summary but if you click on tailline and select male it shows you.

Hes not on sporthorse data, his sire is but dam isnt.
I can trace all his TB lines back to founding sires but hit a block on his great grand-dam who is down as a sporthorse.
Im not that fussed, but when I’m asked what breed he is it seems daft to say Sporthorse when he’s essentially a TB.

You can add him yourself (and his dam)

I could, but it wouldn’t help me because I can only enter the data I know already 🤷🏻‍♀️
As I say, I’m not that bothered but was just curious.

Ref getting an understanding for bloodlines, how do you find out if certain stallions were known for passing on certain traits?
Eg I believe in dressage circles Jazz is meant to produce ‘hot’ horses.
Id be interested to know what traits T’s sire was known for (if any). His sire is Weld.

A sports horse is a type really and could be a mixture of all sorts including tb some more than other.

A lot of the European warmbloods have open studbooks so allow crosses from other approved breeds including tbs.

However they are breeding for a particular type to do a job. They are using different breeds to create the perfect dressage, SJ event horse. They are not trying to breed tbs true to type but using them to create something else so even if there is a lot of tb blood, they are using it to create something different.

You could say your horse is a sport horse with a high percentage of blood if you want to clarify.
