Daughter had first show of the season today, and I took Evie along . I was standing holding her and Murph and a young girl (about 12/13) came up looked at Evie and said "is she full husky?". I replied in my best snotty voice, no, German Shepherd and she muttered something about her looking like a husky and carried on. Now, no offence to husky owners but she looks nothing like one, and more to the point it was the suggestion that she may not even be a purebred one.:mad: Maybe I should have invented some wonderful new designer breed name for her.:D
 
PMSL! I am sure I told you how C was training his female for the Sieger by taking her mountain hiking in her harness.

A man coming back down met him and said 'aren't you lucky to have that husky to pull you up the hill!'

C was mortified.

At least you don't get asked if she's part wolf - I do need to think up a witty answer to that one!

There's a beautiful English setter in our village and the first time we met it I made the poor woman stand there and listen to me going "I know it's a setter, don't tell me which one, it's on the tip of my tongue..." for ten minutes until I guessed right. :p You'd think a GSD would be fairly obvious, mind.
 
Oh I've had the wolf thing too. Because my dog is big, mostly grey with pointy ears. When I point to the dumb blonde thing and say 'er, there's his sister', I get met with blank looks.

(He does have a light eye though, I assume that throws people too :p)

I once did a little charity demo with Jakey (black German Spitz) and afterwards this young boy came up to us and asked "Is he a ????" I couldn't quite hear him so I replied "He is a German Spitz", the little boy insisted "Yes, but is he a ???". I still couldn't quite get it so I stuck to my Spitz line a couple of times, until finally I realised he was asking: "YES, BUT IS IT A BEAR?"
 
People do say the strangest things don't they? Then they get all huffy when they realise they've just made a complete twonk of themselves. I've had someone ask me how old my doberman was....she was a rotty. Another said they really liked my cob...he is a thoroughbred!! :D
 
Lol, it happens to me all the time, everybody seems to mistake Peanuts (golden retriever) for a Maremma shepherd dog!! It was worse when she was a puppy.

Florimell gets mistaken for absolutely anything, mini pinscher, chihuaua (!!!!), when I say she is an Italian greyhound they all inevitably say "ah, a baby greyhound, she will become huge then!" But that is more understandable as it is a rare breed.

A GSD...you really would think they'd know!

Having said that I was about to get on the ferry on Tuesday and got mistaken for a flight attendant, I tried to point out I wasn't and the woman got quite cross with me and was clearly convinced I was lying...
 
On one of the very rare occasions that my late tricolor Smooth Collie decided to stand on our patio and bark at visitors, the Jehovah's Witnesses asked my mother if she was a wolf!?

Twice yesterday I was asked if Otto was a Munsterlander, which TBF he looks the spit of and has a silly long tail like one, so we let them off :D But it does annoy me that people think he is a big Springer - NO HE IS THE SIZE THEY SHOULD BE!! :mad: :D

The IWS was always mistake for a Labradoodle, to the point someone argued with my Mum that she was wrong and he was definately a Labradoodle! :rolleyes:
 
I've no idea what your dog looks like, but around here there's been an explosion of huskys, and gsd x husky being bred. So to be fair to the girl if she was only that old and has the same thing around her then could she not be let of for being mistaken?? OK now if you've got a hairy black and tan GSD beast there's no excuse!!! hahaha

Yeah CD, I met a GSDxAkita pup the other day, whyyyyyyyyyy?!
But there is no way you could mistake Evie for a husky!

Though Kareef on here has a GSDxhusky who has a beatiful GSD outline and the only reason you would know he is a cross to look at him in a picture is the colour!

I know what you mean about GSD x huskies etc CD, there are a few round here, but my monster doesn't really look like one, does she :confused:

I got asked the other evening if my Sloughi was a baby Great Dane!

MM I always thought Evie looked a though she had a touch of Westie in her :p:p, sorry could not resist!
 
MM von Stephanitz did say 'no good dog is a bad colour'. But I always imagined him talking about blacks (he wasn't a huge fan, apparently), whites, the brindles, washed out black and gold etc. Not blues, livers or frickin' pandas!!!

Gladioli, damn, you spotted the westie in her. She is of course a West Highland Shepherd.;)

She had 1 litter in 2006, 1 litter in 2007, 6 litters in 2008 and 10 litters in 2009. She also had one litter with 9 puppies late in December 2010 (so that actually makes 11 litters in 2009) that was ready to leave at Valentine's day, 4 is unsold, one litter with 3 puppies was born in February and 2 are unsold but the two white puppies from the litter born in March has already been sold.
Now due to that her baby decided to arrive 7 weeks early, you might be able to buy a puppy from the other two litters to a reduced price. And she has one bitch that is confirmed pregnant and is possibly planning at least two other litters later this year.

Okay, it is unplanned when babies comes too early, but if/when she knows that she is pregnant, why plan to have 3 litters for sale possibly within 4 months of her baby's due date?
And Fate, who had a litter in October, is the one who is confirmed pregnant, so she will have two litters on two seasons, okay, she is co-owned with somebody else and as far as I understand, lives with the co-owner, but I'm just wondering why they're in such a rush?

Hm, well she also seems to aim for having something for everyone's taste. For those wanting to see what the different coats, colours and patterns means there is a link that I followed and it seems that Plush coat = "NOT a long-coat (no feathering). However, it is medium length with a think, fluffy under coat."
With a think, fluffy undercoat? :eek: Mamma mia, a coat that can think!

I get asked all the time what my labs are crossed with, or told what lovely, well behaved rotties I have and how lovely it is to see them with tails :D

I think it is because the majority of labs around here are the working type as thats what is churned out by the local puppy farm. So people only really see the very tall, slim ones which makes my show type labs look odd. But if you take them to a show they look like all the other labs, except mine are the taller, slimmer ones :D lol
