I am officially depressed and disheartened....

This morning I have cleared out the tack room and put all my bug rugs/fly masks/ anything remotely summery in the wash so that it can be stored away over the winter

Anyone else feel as though they've been robbed of their summer and that it is far to early to have to start thinking about clipping/rugging/how to revive your fingers and toes after doing the horses?

Pointless post, but I have a feeling that I may not be alone

OMG you are well organised

Josh has been out in a HW turnout rug for the last 2 nights and will start to come in at night soon - how depressing is that

Plus I went for a hack last night and only just made it before it got too dark - that was at 7pm

One of mine was clipped over week ago cause she's such a hairy beast

On the plus side, the ground is going to get soft and I can get her mega fit again and *hopefully* aim for a few days hunting

This is going to be my first winter with my new grey though...

so that may not be so fun

i hate hot summers ( iknow ill be slaughtered for saying it!!!) it makes mucking out and any thing strenuous, horrid for a woman of a certain age! the hot flushes become even hotter and my face looks like a beetroot - so roll on winter (but not the rain - i hate rain) LOL x x

Been doing the same, all summer items now cleaned and stored, and have started getting the first of the clean rugs ready to take to the yard for the start of winter.....and,Yep I'm depressed at the thought of it too......one of the girls horses at the yard is out in his fly sheet
crazy.gif
....what with this north east wind blowing,it feels like bl**dy winter now
frown.gif
....guess she is hopeful!

It was more a case of HAVING to do something about the state of the tack room!
blush.gif

I've now discovered I have 4 saddles that don't get used and more leatherwork than I ever imagined.... Am going to set about cleaning it all (

!) and then get some of it shifted.
I reckon if I can shift enough of it then I can justify buying Ben_and_Jerry's SC jumping saddle
wink.gif

And I'm really not that organised.... mine are coming in at night but none of them have seen a rug since 'those' days in June/July... partly because my heap of rugs to be repaired/reproofed is massive and I've still not done anything about them!
smirk.gif

And I was worrying cos I seem to have lost my duvet to put on Josh in the stable
grin.gif
There is a note on the board at our yard saying that the DIY tack room is a tip now all the students have come back from their summer break - strangely I HAD noticed
smile.gif
Some stuff has been there all summer without moving....

I don't like it really hot either... but I do like more than a handful of sunny days over the course of what is meant to be the summer.

My other big thing that depresses me is that my nightmare 5yo has been out of work for a month with an abscess and is due to come back into work anytime now. It's a 'take your life in your hands' job at the best of times, but now we've got a chill in the air she's twice as sharp
crazy.gif

I think Little Miss Bamboozle will be doing an awful lot of long lining and pessoa-ing to get the twinkle out of her toes!
smirk.gif

I'd feel a right prat turning mine out with their fly sheets on in this weather!
crazy.gif

Even though I've been a heart-hearted wotsit with my horses, the two TB's haven't even started to moult their summer coat yet!
blush.gif
My 18yo is getting her winter fluff now though!

Tell me about it!
What a crap summer we've had- the temperature here has only risen above 16degrees once (I remember the day well!) generally sticking about 12degrees and I don't think we've had a day since mid June that it hasn't rained.
Last night my lad had his 340g T/ out rug on as it dropped to freezing but he's hardly had a day out all summer unrugged (wimpy horse who shivers as soon as he feels the rain)
