Booked a holiday.

There will be sun loungers and cocktails.

I will need books.

Anyone have any equestrian recommendations?

I mean story books. I don't want the latest Pony Club manual.

Easy reading preferred but more adult focused.

Thanks x x

Or revisit your pony books from childhood

The Jojo Moyes book is actually very good. You probably think of her as a non-horse writer (which she mostly is), but she rode as a child at an inner city riding school, bought a horse as a teenager with her paper round money without her parents' knowledge, and has horses again now. Her Desert Island Discs (was on a few weeks ago, will still be on BBC Sounds) was really good listening!

Take a look at Jan Ruth on Amazon. Not all the titles are equestrian themed but some are. Set in North Wales and feature horses, family life, riding schools, relationships. They're not overly romantic but the love elements when they are present are done really well. Kindle and paperback.

Ooh thanks for this. I have read a few of her books and love her writing style but didn't know she'd written a horsey one.

I’m going to suggest Mark Rashid

Really easy to read and thought provoking

Start with considering the horse
Ooh, yes, Mark Rashid.

My favourite one of his was I think the 4th one, A Good Horse Is Never A Bad Colour.

Oh, and, if you can find it, grab a copy of Ride A Wild Pony by James Aldridge. Don't be fooled by the cover or the word Disney. (It was made into a film.) It's a wonderful novel and a must-read for all horse lovers.

Horse Heaven is currently on Borrow Box as a free audio book. Borrow box is the library service.
I have also listened to Mark Rashid's books for free on audible and they are wonderful.

Also: Forging On by Catherine Robinson - loved every page

Just about to board a train for a five hour journey. My friend bought me The Housemaid (Which was released as a film I think last year), so will give that a go on the journey.
