So I have a real problem that my short paddock boots never last more than about 5-6 months. I wear them every day, all day, but don't do mucking out or anything like that.

I ride in them with half chaps and wear them for teaching. Some arenas are very wet at times and they do get muddy when walking the dog or catching horses if I forget to change into my muck boots.

I keep them regulaly cleaned and follow the manufactures recommendations for care.

Can anyone out there give me a recommendation for some that might actually last a bit longer?

I have tried cheap ones, expensive ones, in-betweeney ones but they all give up the ghost after a short space of time!!

I have used equitectors, ariats (though admittedly not the very expensive ones), treadsteps, fellini, kieffer, toggi etc

I don't like mountain horse ones as they are too 'clumpy' in the soles.

Is it really worth paying top whack for the ariat performer pro? Will they seriously last any longer? Mine always start to split where the crease is where your toes join your foot.

So anyone out there in the same situation ie riding and teaching all day, every day, let me know what you wear and how long you expect them to last.

Thanks.

Cannot comment as not wearing boots to the same extent as yourself but have to say my more expensive ariats are still going strong. The £70 ones lasted about 6 months my more expensive ones have done over a year and are still going strong. A friend has similar problem to you and dont think she has found a solution either!

That's interesting about your Ariats because my £70 ones lasted 5 months so maybe it's worth trying the more expensive ones.

My ariats were 150 and are three years old dont wea them every day though. My instructor has the expensive ariats and they only last a year with her. I found the plastic (pvc) jod boots tend to last longest I wear them every day and the last 14 / 15 months. I bought some cheep ones recently that have leather uppers theuy only lasted 5 months so now i stick with £16 loveson pvc ones

I'm on my 3rd ever pair of the Ariat Devon Pro's- I had them each for about 4 years- they are pricey but worth every penny as they are comfortable for schooling and riding/round the yard. I also have a pair of the artic tall boots (that I don't think they do anymore) and I have had them in constant use for 2 years for yard work/hacking, schooling in the winter- will need to replace soon- I was looking at the Bromont tall boots in my local saddlers the other week- they look really nice and save you from keep changing into chaps etc. In my opinion I don't think you can beat Ariat!- maybe they are cheaper if you get them from an American website as the exchange rate is so good at the mo!. I used to travel to the states all the time for work and there is a shop that sells them cheap called Boot Barn- dont know if they have a website(?)

like you, i am very hard on boots. i loved my ariats but the zips always go in the first couple of weeks with me, either refuse to stay up or split apart (happened to 3 pairs on the trot), so no more ariats for me, cos they refused to replace the zips.

i've given in and gone for the slightly clumpier styles, and they do seem to last longer.

I swear by Aquacat Cheetahs. Usually last me at least one year being worn every day in all conditions. Last pair I bought cost about £60. Very comfy for every day use. I'm now on my fifth pair.

I wear the dublin ones with the green sole bit and zips up the front. To keep mine in good condition i actually moisturise them with vaseline!!! And then use boot polish and a shiner.
They're not overly expensive either.

I have a pair of Elite thoroughbred paddock boots, they are the best boots Ive had by far. Im terrible with boots as I never clean them or look after them but these have lasted me ages.
Although, someone said they had stopped making these now.

I too love the Aquacats but I had the Jaguars, lasted years ( though don't think they make them anymore? ) Got my recent ones off a clearance site!

the more expensive ariats were worth the extra money IMHO

mine have been pretty trashed at times and still going strong 4 years later
