I have a little project horse who came out of racing back in January, she has two lumps on the insides of each hind pastern, the right being bigger than the left tis one is just over her coronet band. She is currently with the vet having the largest removed as she reguarly knocks the top off making it sore again and ends up scooting about like a tripod (Not funny at all). Its like an overreach but on the inside of the opposite leg and the lump has been getting bigger each time she does it. So far i have tried the following:
Bandages - works for a short while but then the bandage will either ride up over the lump or come apart exposing it anyway
Brushing boots - not enough protection lower down.
Sausage Boot - the lump is bigger than the width of the ring
Overreach boots - rubs the top of the lump sore.
Can anyone think of any types of boot that would be suitable to cover this area to help prevent a reoccurance of this lump, i was looking at the equichaps although im not sure if they woudl be suitable to ride in. The vet is costing a small fortune and while i dont begrudge her this treatment i dont want to find myself back to have it redone, its very complicated and she will be wearing a cast to help it heal on her return home.
I have some photos which i will try to upload later on.
