Meet Rebel. He just lovely :D

After spend a little while looking halfheartedly at unsuitable or over-priced horses (to replace Kalli :() we went a local dealer. He sells the exact kind of horse we were looking for (a big sensible ID hunter gelding) but didn't have what we wanted at the time so said he could bring a horse over for Ireland for us. He has a excellent reputation and and a lot of very nice sensible horses, which he buys from 3 breeders/producers in Ireland. He had a handful waiting in the wings and from photo's (and talking to the producer and a 5 stage vetting) we chose this one:

So after much waiting, hopping up and down excitedly, worrying and being massively impatieint, he finally arrive on Thursday night :D

We were VERY pleasantly suprised: slightly bigger than we thought (good thing!) and much more sports-horsey: we were expecting something a little more drafty. And he's also very well bred: he's a Section A RID, his dad's Huntingfield Rebel and his mums a premium grade mare. He's still only 4yrs old but will look amazing once he's grown up and filled out. Currently looks like a heavily boned TB (his knees are huge!) :o

One very worried but very well behaved new horse

And so far he's been FAB. Hacks amazingly and is sensible and quiet to ride but moves like a huge warmblood (MASSIVE trot that throws you right out the saddle). Gentle and quiet and laidback. He basically does exactly what it said on the tin :D

Looking awfully like an overgrown donkey (his head really isn't oversized!)

All ready to go today

And licking his bowl(s) clean after being a very good boy

But now we need to register his show name (Breed papers are blank).

His pet name is Rebel, he comes from Ireland (Donnegal) and he's grey, so we'd ideally like those somewhere in the names. We've so far chosen Donnegal's Silver Rebelion but they need 4 suggestions apparently. I also like Batteries Not Included but have been overrulled :o

Any suggestiongs very welcome!

Oh, and a picture of Pips because he was a super good boy inbetween baby sitting Rebel, being a kids pony, and is rather put out by the new boy

No help with the name, neither of mine have one yet and I've had them bother over 18 months, but just wanted to say lovely horse :)

Just realised we were supposed to be suggesting names!

Ha was just about to suggest Doney's Silver Rebel when I read your post properly!

- Rebel without a Cause
- Rebel's Irish Ghost
- Donegal's Rebel in the Mist

oh I don't know am crap at this! :D

You bought a horse unseen? My goodness, I would never do that. Those that I've gone to see that looked and sounded perfect were entirely unsuitable/ bucking broncos or dead to the leg.:(

However, so glad it worked out for you.:) You've been very lucky

I'd call him ...... wait for it .........

Chance your luck

:D:D

Just stunning!! He's going to a gorgeous once fully grown up and fit!!! Very very nice well worth the risk I'd have said!:D No good with names..my lad hasn't had a show name in the 7 years I've had him, I just use his name name!!;) (I've bought unseen before now..worked out great too)

He's beautiful, very similar to my lad! With mine I used part of his father's name and went back through to his grandfather.

Do you have his full pedigree so it makes it easier to name?

Lovely looking horse and due to circumstances he was bought in i think a good name would be Rebel's Risk :)
Good luck with him, hope you have lots of happy years together :)

He's a cracker , as are all the RID , ISH's etc.

Not very good with names , but some suggestions anyway,

Donegal silver cloud
Donegal Last Light

see told you I was no good:D

Thanks you. We're very pleased (and relieved!) with him. I would never buy unseen from a private seller (except youngstock) but the dealer has a good rep and very nice horses and the seller in Ireland is a professional producer. The 5 stages vetting and his description in the sales catalogue (was due to go through a Performance Horse sales) helped too. He's also from good sensible lines and you rarely go wrong with a nice RID.

I <3 My Teddi: he's a Section A registered irish draft (his grading) not a Welsh mix;)

We are expecting him to grow another couple inches (he's about 16.2 at the mo) and fill out considerably as he's only 4.5yr and still very gangly.

His dad is Huntingfield Rebel (out of Whippy) and his mum is Diamond Western Queen by (i think, i'll need to go and look it up again) Diamond King. I know bugger all about RID breeding but apparently he's about as blue blooded as they come.

Yep - he has some good bloodlines (if he was a mare I'd be making you an offer!!)

This is his dam's pedigree - http://www.idshs.com.au/perl/search.pl?op=tree&index=diamond_western_queen&gens=5

Follow the links and you'll find out about her other progeny - she had 3 foals by Huntingfield Rebel - yours was the 3rd.
