Bought unseen problems returning

Are we sure said horse has actually been purchased etc or could someone have just taken the pics etc…I mean hopefully not but do we know this whole situation has actually happened? I’ve kind of lost track!

I have been wondering that. We have evidence the old owner sold him at a Welsh sale. We have evidence Devine put him on his website for sale and sold him. That seems to be the only actual evidence we have.

the only other thing that is clear from this thread is that OP wants to have a go at dealers in general and Devine in particular. OP has far more interest in that than in sorting the horse (if she ever had him)

Beyond that we simply don't know. Per OP there are 2 large riding schools in the Bradford area and this small one. Anyone live near Bradford and know if this small school even exists?

Honestly this is typical HHO 🤣

Why are we hunting down strangers on the internet? Why are we trying to send people to have a look? If this is a made up story then so what? Yes it’s wasted peoples time and is annoying but really asking if people are from Bradford to gather evidence is really going out there.

The dealer in question is a known dodge. So slinging more muck on an already full midden isn’t going to damage the reputation of them anymore than their dodgy dealings already have.

I’d have honestly said, if it’s not for you sell on. Too many people guilt folk into keeping horses that they may just be too scared to admit they don’t trust or are scared of. What you might be willing to let settle and see if it comes good won’t be for everyone. If the horse is nice it will find a good home.

If the OP is yanking people’s chains then let the thread die off and leave them to their troubles if they are to their own devising.

I think it may well be true, I think people are sometimes too trusting, until burnt.
Only recently I purchased a horse I really shouldn't have, I trusted what I was told, but then did have to deal with the fall out. It's really difficult if someone hasn't got the back up or confidence to do so and as I have said I still do feel very sorry for the OP and her really crappy position.

What really crappy position?

There are several RS in and around Bradford. I know where a few of them are, it certainly isn't the 2 that I know best.

Or come straight to Llanybydder or Brecon (this Saturday) - some cracking horses go through.
Bring waterproofs.

I've always wanted to, but being on a livery yard prevents that due to the strangles test requirements. I'm fairly sure a new beast won't settle in my little back garden for a few days while tests are done.

I suspect the YO has reached her limit. Considering the rejection of advice on this thread, do you think OP is different IRL?

On another note, if I were looking for a diamond in the rough like Ozzy, I'd probably consider Devine Cobs now.
D.Cobs are notoriously sharp, and that’s being generous!
Buying cheap at various sales then instantly offering as ‘tried & tested, x, y, z’ is their known stock in trade - but that is not necessarily to the detriment of the actual horses. Law of averages, will be some very decent animals go through the dealership.
Can’t imagine they’ll handle with kid gloves, either, but consistent maltreatment of their own living stock seems unlikely.
If their’s is the type you’re looking for? - eyes wide open, thoroughly try out, haggle with determination, and don’t spend more than you can afford to lose - perhaps collect a winner, 9tails?

I honestly think @HHO admin should close this thread now. If the OP is genuine and she comes back to read everyone slagging her off that may not end well. And if we've all been had, well she/they still have issues!

It might sound like an impulsive thing to say but we had planned to look for another cob within the next year or so as our 26 year old may be ready for retirement (although he's still fine at the moment!) Out two boys live out but we are in the process of building a stable to be completed before winter.
It's just that I can't stand the thought of Ozzie going back to the dealer.
I'll be second in the line (I don't need one) but he's absolutely lovely. Seeing those videos, he's just green but what a nice lad. I wouldn't even have him cooped up in a stable to start with, he sounds a bit anxious and stressed and he's just trying to tell someone. I don't think he's intentionally being nasty, he's too young and new to even have any tricks in the book I'd have thought. He might not have been stabled before either. Let him be a horse and get to know him. Some are just a bit possessive with their stables too.

Sorry, I know I'm only on page 24 out of 28 so I'm probably actually 400 in the line now!

ETA: Just caught up now. So confused, I thought it was all going quite well and you were going to get to know him. He really does look like a nice boy. Yes he was missold and you weren't after something that was green but sometimes they can be the better ones as they're totally innocent and ready to learn. Please don't give up on him already.

I was not going to reply on this anymore but I feel the need to. I have not made any of this up. Devine Cobs do have a bad reputation end of look them up. I found out too late. And yes I have been reading all of your posts slagging me off so thank you for making a vulnerable person feel even worse about herself. I came for advice on my chances of a refund not to have to go through all this. At the moment I don't whether I am coming or going. If it makes you feel better then carry on slagging me off.

OP, if you are still here, what outcome is it that you want from all this?

Your chances of getting money back from the dealer are low and more hassle than it's worth if you are already struggling with your mental health. He's also a very nice horse and doesn't deserve to go back to the dealer, he can be sold very easily as you can already see here so you'd get your money back this way instead.

You either want to work with him or not have him anymore but why is the only option sending him back? Think of his welfare if nothing else. You need to decide for his sake.

I can't make any decisions at the moment my head is all over the place that's what I am trying to say. I don't want to have him have to go through another move but I didn't get the horse I expected either. I don't know why I am still replying on here probably because I don't like to be accused of not being genuine.

May I suggest you make a note of the names of those who have offered to buy him, and then if you do decide to sell, you could send them a PM to see if they are still interested?

At least then you'd have got something positive out of this thread.

I believe you. I'm sorry you're struggling x

Well you've now had three offers to buy. Genuine offers. Hopefully that can help you make a decision. I'm sure that those who are interested have messaged you. Ignore the recent negative posts, they're totally irrelevant.

The horse is in full livery so he is safe and being looked after. There is no immediate rush to do anything.
If you want to get rid of him, then sell him. It would be worth contacting those posters who have expressed an interest in buying him. He looks like a useful type.
If you do get rid, I strongly urge you not to re-enter into horse ownership, if your MH is as bad as you say, you will not be resilient enough to deal with horse ownership. Stick to RS lessons and maybe see if there is a local share option.

I'm afraid, MH issues or not, only you can change your mindset and behaviour. Please stop throwing it around as an excuse for everything.

I still think you should keep and work with the horse, but not if the poor fella is going to sense his person doesn't like or want him, thats just not fair.

@Jasmine2023, I shared earlier the story of my beautiful cob who was bargy on day one, hoping it would offer comfort. But there is another story that keeps coming into my head reading this thread - when I tell it you will understand I think why I was hesitant to share.
A woman local to me was thrown from her horse and killed a few weeks ago. She had bought him a couple of months before from a dealer and had expressed doubts about whether she was doing the right thing keeping him. Someone up thread mentioned ‘having blood’ on their hands and it has made me afraid that we are all talking you into a potentially dangerous situation - after all, none of us have seen Ozzy or can vouch for him. The only people who have met him- you, your YO and the vet - seem to feel that he is not a suitable horse for you.
I’m afraid you will get nothing from entering a war with a dealer. You have done your bit by sharing your story here. If you don’t like or feel safe with your new horse you should sell him with full disclosure. I’m so sorry that this (and I include posting on here as part of that) has been a stressful experience for you. Best wishes.
