After 3 long months of box rest my horse is finally turned out for field rest. We have him in a small paddock literally the same size as a stable which we will move round every day - so small he cannot pick up a trot in there for now. Was wondering whether this is unnecessary or whether anyone else did this and has good results - Cannot see why it would hurt him and stops the risk of anything else happening to his leg?

I have done this to reintroduce turnout several times. At vet's suggestion I then added more stable sized pens like a maze so she had more space/grass but couldn't build up any speed. Bit of a faff but worked well.

It depends on your horse of course but if hooning about can hurt the horse then best to take any precaution necessary. But if the horse is to start moving about a little more then you may need to make a maze/track type thing so as said they can't build up speed but still get to mooch.
