Experiences please and best place to buy - looks like there is a lot of difference in pricing.

Trying to find my mare something to plug a gap between Bute and getting hocks done. She’s currently off work due to me suffering with hip tendinitis so don’t want to continue her on Bute and don’t want to get hocks done as not sure when I’ll be good to ride (ironically I’m due steroid injections).

I got mine here. Found it excellent for mine to replace bute. I will be buying more idc. I kept on bute and half boz. then 1 boz and half bute to change over in about 4 days.

My boy has just done a trial for hock arthritis. He was on it for coming up five weeks and it did nothing for him. Vet has now done bute trial to see if that helps before we go down the injection route. I have heard good things about it but it just made no improvement to mine.

If you register with Hestevard you get 2 free sachets and a 30% off voucher. I used the voucher to get the 1.5kg pouch from my vet which was a bit cheaper. I'm giving it to my 21 year old cob in the hope that she will be more comfortable when getting her hinds trimmed. She eats it fine in a tiny amount of soaked hay cubes whereas she wouldn't eat other supplements.

I've just started my mare on it, she's only been on it for a few days and I haven't noticed any change yet. Its definitely spendy, I paid £89.99 plus next day delivery.

My vet wants me to try this - I wont switch I will stick to Equimins Flexijoint as I have experienced this first hand and the difference.

Can’t find anywhere less than £89.99 for 60 sachets. I’ve done the hestervard registration and sample pack and will get some ordered - it’s got to be worth a try given the positive reviews.

It's nowhere near as good as Bute - useful I think for low level aches and pains but "proper" arthritis I needed bute

He’s only been on the Bute three days and the difference is astounding! Really striding out properly and I can finally lift his hinds to pick his feet out which is a relief I’m just worried about the effects on his gut if he has to stay on it long term.

I looked everywhere but £89 was the cheapest. Hopefully doesn't have the long term potential side effects bute etc could.

Mine was doing very well on half a sachet of Bute x 2 a day. I’m hoping this will be a good alternative until we’re ready to inject hocks.

How long are you likely to be off games?

Gel injections (arthramid) into the hock should last for a couple of years, and the horse continues to improve for at least a month after having the injections. Then she'd be all ready for you to pick up again once you're mended :). Good luck for your own treatment btw.

I thought it was really good and bought the 1.5kg pouch as better value. I have since changed, due to cost, to high grade boswellia and turmeric and find it just as good as BosMerix.

My vet sort of recommended in the sense he said they'd seen promising results with Boswellia. Bosmerix was what they'd been supplying but there were other sources. He knows me especially after the Myoplast/Spirulina conversation.

Thank you - I’ll know more Monday. Have a few tests to confirm diagnosis and tendon needling and steroids planned. I’m hoping to be back to games quite quickly but light games only. I’ve got a few options I guess, if we could both only get a bit of a break ☹️

Any recommendations for an alternative then?
It's worth trying for a month. I had a better result than mixing boswellia and turmeric. Not all horses react the same to herbal mixes

Devil's claw was great for another of mine but that's similar to Bute. Equinatural do a meadowsweet / willow mix which also has good feedback.

I'm getting excellent results with high grade Boswellia, all my creaky 3 are on it. I get 65% boswellic acid from Riaflex, a 1 kg bag has lasted them nearly 7 weeks between them. Noticeably better results than the unspecified grade of Boswellia from Feedmark et al. Riaflex do regular offers, so I pounced when they had 20% off.

You could add some turmeric to it if you wanted to.

I feed equicure flex. I was alrrady feeding green lipped mussel based formulations,(either maxaflex or yumove). First month i just bought the high concentration boswellia and added it alongside then switched to the Flex powder which combined both. By subscribing, it works out cheaper.

I did get the 2 free sachets but that's not long enough to say if he was any better on those.

Eta they do straight boswellia and i think a product which just has boswellia and turmeric
