Sat on sofa with back going crazy browsing h&h to try and take my mind off it till pain killers kick in. Either I trapped a nerve or dd 2 (due in 4 weeks) is putting pressure on my sciatic nerve. No riding for me :(.

Anyway was reading the Avon skin so soft thread and thought randomly about extra tail which was the best fly spray for keeping bugs off the old boy. Shame they don't make it any more I thought.

So what brands do you miss?

Other than the extratail I admit I miss world beater rugs too.

Might be showing my age a bit here :).
 
Dermobion, damn the EU they still sell it in Australia.

Kudu polyurethane boots. Very, very hard wearing and much cheaper than the Stylo version.

Musto Ultimate breeches, discontinued.

I'm sure there are more!

Champion vented riding hat, great for summer wear.

Pain killers kicked in whoo seriously thinking of lying on my equimassage pad :).

Ah jod brans miss so many of them it seems I just find some that fit and don't break the bank and they stop making them :(.
 
I'm not sure 'missing' is exactly the right term, but I'm terribly disappointed that Hawkins are no longer making boots. I have a gorgeous second-hand pair and they're just so much nicer than anything else...

I agree amazing boots (once broken in that is!)
 
Lavenham still going I think... at least there's a smallish rug manufacturer who exhibit under that name at Badminton each year...

hahaha, my first jodhs were batwing ones from Jakatex! I also had some joddie boots from them that lasted for years and years.

Dermobion is a massive loss, brilliant stuff.

The first rug I bought for my first horse was a Lavenham stable rug. It was in the days before the internet and I waited for Burghley Horse Trials to go and buy one from the trade stands. It fitted him like a glove and had wonderful elasticated surcingles. It cost me a small fortune but lasted years and I only stopped using it when my second horse outgrew it and then husband nicked it to drape over water pipes during a cold winter... it's still there now.

The modern ones don't look the same cut as the older versions, which were generous enough to fit my broad shouldered cob.
 
Anyone remember those hideously heavy and expensive new zealands from the early 80s that were made from flax or something similar? They relied on being slightly moist for the threads to expand and therefore become watertight. They were wool lined and weighed a ton - came with optional belly wrap and neck wrap. I want to say that they were sold under the name greenham, but think it was green something or other. I am sure they were responsible for the bad back that I've endured most of my life!

They are a good miss!

My first job was at a riding school/hacking centre run by an elderly old school lady who was very much quality over quantity.
Every horse had lavenham rugs. They were lovely and just never ever broke or tore even on youngsters.
 
I loved my Greenham NZ rugs, though I do now have a chronically bad back... Also my Lavenham stable rugs.

Dermobion is much missed, I can smell it now.

I miss the 5m length therapeutic Glentona bandages, I still use mine but they must be over 30 years old and are looking a bit tired. Could pop them on overnight with no underlay and they'd stay on without causing any wrinkling or constriction, and without slipping down.
 
I had some Rosette jodhpurs back in the mid 90s, a black pair, a navy pair and a beige pair for competitions. They were so comfy (maybe the first ones with lycra?) and I think they'd probably still be going now if I hadn't expanded out of them. Mum bought them for me for my 14th birthday and I know I still had them when I finished Uni at 22. That's when the weight started going on so I wouldn't have had them much longer but they were good as new right to the end.
 
Another vote for Dermobian. I have just a teensy-weensy bit left.

I used to love Lavenham rugs and my Greenham self-righting NZ was my pride and joy back in the early 1980s it cost £50 which was a fortune to me then.
