All you gorgeous curvy dressage riders, what breeches are you wearing? I just bought Eqcouture but the waistband is v poorly designed (shame as otherwise they are lovely), and I have tried every other big brand from Horseware to Mark Todd, Ariat to Tredstep. Absolutely NOTHING accommodates my curves. (Im desperately resisting the urge to get mounjaro!) Im truly despairing. All i need is a smart, structured pair of non grip breeches, which are stretchy but supportive. I have loads of tights for everyday riding but they aren't flattering and not smart enough for lessons, so im not after recommendations for tights.

They are technically tights but I’ve gone for the Horzehoods white ones in the heavier material and am finally happy with my choice. They’re really comfortable and the material is thick enough that it holds everything in quite nicely. I went for white with a grey seat but they also do all white, white with other colour bums and various shades of beige.

I got these after trying loads of breeches and also not finding any I liked. I tried the Eqcouture ones too and found the waistband awful so sent them back. I’m more of a pear shape and often the waist is too big on me so I think anybody with more tummy wouldn’t stand a chance.

Horzehoods have also just started doing some competition breeches with a proper fastening waist. They look very smart but I haven’t got them so don’t know about comfort or fit.

Pikeur definitely do non grip decent breeches, but not sure which type is best for curvy. Be worth trying to find a stockist as their quality is lovely

Thank you. HH didn't work for me as they fall down. I have three redundant pairs sadly. The new Dreamsculpt look lovely but they are only in white. (Im after navy)

Pikeur Candela are a nice shape. I also think the Horzehood tights are smart, so I wouldn't rule them out.
Thanks, ill check out pikeur, tho ill prob need a second mortgage 🙈. I have several HH tights but they just don't work for me. Edited to add. I just checked out the Candela and they are all with grip seat.

Pikeur are fabulous, but you can usually get a better deal on ebay, or in the sales at all the usual big retailers, Classic Dressage etc. I love Pikeur, but I've never paid full price for them, cant afford to!
Thanks. I've just looked through all the pikeur breeches at Classic Dresssge and every pair is either silicone grip or artificial suede/leather.

I don't know exactly how curvy you're talking here, but I'm not flat. I have hips, thighs, and a bum on me. I wear almost solely Pikeur. They make fullseats that aren't silicone (I don't like the silicone). I actually have Pikeur Candela breeches on right now, but I have several different models.

Oh, just saw you don't want fullseat. They do have a suede knee patch but it's hard to come by.

Ah, sorry to hear that, I just saw dressage breeches and assumed you wanted white so thought of mine. Lots of things fall down on me too, including most Le Mieux breeches. It’s really annoying. Some of the Le Mieux ones are a decent thickness though so might be worth a try if you haven’t already, depending on your shape.

I’ve just looked on their website and I’ve got the Isabelle ones, which don’t fall down, and the Amara II ones, which do even with a belt. I’m more thighs than belly and the Amara ones might suit you if you’re the other way round.

Depending what size, colour and thickness your Horzehoods ones are I might be interested in buying a pair or two off you if you’re looking to sell them. PM if you’re interested. I don’t do any of the really bright ones though!

Have a look at Rosetta Equestrian, I saw them at Hickstead and they were very nice indeed. Not sure if they do exactly what you're after , but they were so nice, I was prepared to compromise!

Look at Mayston - lots of friends really love their stuff though they will have some sort of grip. I don't know any brand apart from some of the leggings ones which don't.
I am a fatty and love my premier Equines and Ariat but has to be trifactor. Weirdly I also really love my Aztec Diamond breeches and they look good. They have some for £50 in sale which might be worth a try but they will have silicon grip. Mine are the expensive ones not in the sale but I go mad at Black Friday and buy loads!

Yep Rosetta are great for curves. They are always at Pachesham when there's BD on and they are reasonable. I don't have any as don't need more breeches 🙈

Leaving aside I thoroughly detest virtually all the 'modern' equestrian wear, plastered with brand logos, diamantes and other detritus which would set my former BHS instructors spinning in their graves, if budget is a factor, then dare I say it, but 'riding tights' from Temu are excellent value and fit.

They come in a good range of colours and I have several pairs which only cost NZ$30 (approximately £13) each. They don't have waistbands and do have (very cute tiny horses or horseshoes) self-coloured silicone shapes on the knees and seat.

These really aren't visible in use. Depending on which merchant is selling them, the fabric can be a little thin, but they have tremendous flexibility and excellent fit.

I have the 'same but different' problem to several of the commenters - waists which are huge and gape. I'm not 'curvy', but it seems every manufacturer of johdpurs, breeches, leggings or jeans these days has no conception of the female form and they make every garment in a 'V' shape when women are inverted 'V's!!

I can say that the riding tights I have are an excellent fit and they all have belt loops if you need or want to use a belt. They have sizes to accommodate 'curvy' to 'Twiggy' :-))

Agree with this - I know you said you weren't after tights but I find flexars flattering and comfortable. I haven't worn anything else for smart/ competing for years so can't recommend any breeches!
I agree that flexors are very good quality, l have two pairs but one of them seems to fall down more than the other. It’s a pity they don’t put belt loops on them.

Thanks. I've just looked through all the pikeur breeches at Classic Dresssge and every pair is either silicone grip or artificial suede/leather.

As someone else has said the Lugana comes with knee patches or full seat, and they certainly used to make knee patch breeches, and they were definitely the best fit I found for a curvy 12-14 (me then, no idea if they'd fit the me now 14-16!). Unless a brand only caters to dressage riders they should have knee patch versions, just need to find a retailer than isn't just dressage.

Have you looked at Agaso breeches? I find them really comfortable, supportive, not see through. They do have a silicon seat (not sure if they come without?) but from a look and comfort perspective they are better than any others I have

I bought 34 waist stretchy unbranded off e-bay, I did a google search to find them. But I also have an ancient pair of navy blue Mark Todd which have stretched over the years. In summer I wear denim breeches by Ariat.
I got so confused with all the blue breeches lookng the same that I made an MS Word document listing my breeches.

I bought Tri factor from Hope Valley recently after recommendation from a friend. They were so short waisted that I couldnt get them up, so had to return them. Mayston stuff is lovely but their breeches all have silicone grip.

Thanks, but I just cant bear a silicone seat.

Thanks, but im really after traditional breeches for smart use (lessons). Tights aren't flattering on me and I dont feel smart in them - I prefer the more structured look (and feel) of breeches.
