Sorry to put all my questions into one post!!
Basically, I bought Melly just over a year ago as unreg but pure bred. Im thinking she isnt full what she is ment to be...what do you think?

Below are pics of her when I bought her, and from a week or so ago, hopefully you can see some improvment!
She is 10 this year and has had physical and behaviour problems but is coming good gradually.
I am aware that she is still overweight, and has pads of fat, we are working on it!!!
Any way, Pics! Crit welcome, try and be nice! Also, what showing classes could I do with her? Thanks

She looks like a cob to me none specific maybe a bit of welsh with a bit of traditional?
Can see what you mean abotu the weight thing - keep going i know these cob types seem to live on fresh air and getting weight off is realyl hard work.
She looks nice enough and i would definately do cob classes and maybe M&M type
 
Cheers Taffster...Im leaning towards the cob classes, but a work mate told me Id never make a cob out of her as she isnt one??? Im also thinking of hogging? I think it would really suit her!
 
Sorry Samstar, we must have post at the same time.. your more in the right direction breed wise... I dont care what breed she is to be honest, just like to know what other people think!!
 
Is she a fell? regardless if your only doing local you could put her in cob classes i dont even think you have to hog her, the bay in my sigi used to win local cob classes all the time even up against traditionals and show type cobs (hogged and trimmed)
 
Id say sshe looks like a traditional x or maybe fell x? cant see ger feet but looks like she has slight feather?
Mind Im not good at guessing breeds lol
Well done and keep up the good work with the weight loss.
Id also have to agree on the classes
What were you sold her as?

That is a very nice example of a Fell IMO. I would do M and M's with her, my friend does them with hers and beats the Welshies hands down. What a stunner.

.......ditto the M+M classes, makes a change from the welshies ( no offence intended, but they are everywhere - taking our Highland to his first show on Sunday...see what happens there...

We do local shows and we enter M&Ms, Most appealing, Most handsome, Riding Club Pony, Best Condition, and if we get brave this summer we might try M&M WHP. She defo wouldn't look out of place in an M&M class IMO

Up at affiliated level the classes are generally quite even with fells highlands and d's being in abundance, not many dales cobs though. We went BSPS a Highland Took champion a small d with elegant paces took 2nd and taf got 3rd not a big stomping d in sight
 
Poppymoo, what colour is your highland (can you please take lots of pics this weekend). I love them, I used to ride one (im 5 ft 10, about 10 stone and it was 12.2 at best, strawberry roan), as it took the Pi** with the little kiddies. She was so much fun and did not mind me on her back at all. I love native's, some of the best pony breeds in the world originate here.
 
bay-beasty- he's a yellow dun with the dorsal stripe and tiger legs.....he's gorgeous, even if I do say so myself!

He's only rising 5, we bought him as a second/family pony for my daughter cos she outgrew her shettie, so I am bringing him on because she's only 6, and he's about 13.3hh. He's a little superstar....I will take loads of piccies ...hopefully with a rosette or 2!!
 
Good luck poppymoo and dont forget the piccies with rosettes on too! We are out on Sunday but since weve upped our game we dont get as many rosettes, however no fun in winning all the time - and the last couple of weeks we have been beaten by the big flashy bay 4whites sec d stallions!! I keep telling my boy he too is a stallion but he just doesnt get it, he says i'm just a good boy and behave myself without exhurting too much energy!!
 
Hi Taffster....haven't seen you on here for a while....no, we're not in your league, don't have the time or the transport! Just local RC/unaffiliated.....thats stressful enough for me! I am pretty much the groom...I get to muck out and do all the chores, daughter gets the rosettes although to be fair she does help with tack cleanaing and pony-bathing!
 
locally I think you actually do quite well with a nice highland/dales/fell etc, I think the judges like seeing something else for a change. At all our RC shows we actually split welshies out of both the small and large M+M classes as there are just so many of them (guilty! but don't show v much and then normally workers as more fun)
 
I seem to have been really busy, I dont know how long we'll carry on at this pace each show is approx £100 for one class we could do 2-3 locals for that and do more than 1 class. It is nice though i have seen some stunning stuff, infact the highland stallion that got 1st in our class at BSPS champs converted me into a highland lover he was aboslutely stunning and moved beautiful too. Watch out for the new siggi!!!!!
I am joking i cant afford another and highlands are soooo expensive
 
I am waiting for equinational to update otherwise i am still rubbish with the camera and never take any. There are some fab workers ones from teh winter champs but it would take too long for anyone to find when these come up from this weekend i'll send you the link, he is still on the yard and they have done wonders yet all they have done is hack out. He travels in the lorry fine alone or with company not tried him in the trailer since but i sold it and bought a little 6tonne wagon which he is fine on

She is ment to be a Fell.... She is really heavily feathered normally, but i clipped them, so She is half feathered at the mo!!! Pic from today -

I love her too, she looks very fell to me, but perhaps, could she be fell cross shetland? I used to know one of these and he was so totally cute, what height is she?
 
Thanks Bex and Bay_beastie! I adore her, so I couldnt care if she was half cow! lol! She is MENT (the owners talked a lot of poo tho!!!)to be a pure bred Fell...however they had no papers for her, apparantly lost but prob in the land of non-existant with her vacc records, farriery/dentistry and worming history!
The pics dont show it all tbh, as I had her on loan for 9 months before I bought her....the daughter decided she wanted to ride again, I said go ahead but Im not getting involved - one hospital visit later, Mels is branded as dangerous and sold to me for meat money...Piccy is the 1st one I took of her, so its 2 years + old now.
I just wonder if she has a bit of something else in her...possibly welsh or as you say Bay_beastie, even a large shettie! She is PP as 14.2hh but I think my vet may have been optimistic in that! lol!

There's certainly Fell in there! She's beautiful.

What going on with her croup area? Is that chubb there? Its almost like she's roach backed - is that part of the problems she's had?
 
Kitsdune, yeah, she has huge fat pads over her loins, we (McT and I) think it could be to do with her terrible diet and bad saddling.... her old owners gave me a 15" med saddle to ride her in when I took her on loan, and were then supprised when I didnt use it!!!! Madness!!
She has also had a lot of misaglignment probs with her pelvis so there seems to have been some trauma. She's a bit odd bless her! xx
