I am venturing tenatively in here to ask if any one knows of any Italian Greyhound breeds. They seem to be most illusive (unless you want a puppy farm one - def not!).

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks alot

Sadly just cos a breeder registers stock with the KC does not mean they are decent breeders, puppy farmers register their stock! And although the approved breeder scheme is a start, there are still quite a few on there that I wouldn't buy a pup from.:(

Thanks for the help! It is muchly appreciated.

We did speak to Italian Greyhound society who were helpful, the lady lived on a working farm and hers would run around very happily, which was good to know re being very delicate and those very slender legs!

Have you looked on the KC site?
We have just bought one, but not from there, there was a litter in Yorkshire ready now(ish). We didn't go as she wouldn't sell to family with children. There are a number on ePupz that they say are health checked etc.

It is early days with ours, we've only had him 2 weeks but he isn't as delicate as people made out tbh. In fact, he's a feisty little devil who hangs off our Pointers ears, much to their chagrin.

log onto' k9 communtiy' and 'the whippet forum' ,there are IG breeders/owners on there and can give you alot more info on the breed and where to look for litters coming up

good luck

I know they're regarded as being delicate and prone to fractures, but they're a fairly common breed around here, and they like to play hard at the dog park (though their owners tend to keep them in the "small dog" section of the run).

I winter, I often see them wearing dog pyjamas with a coat over the top :D

The only ones I have known have suffered fractures on a regular basis..and they certainly need coddling as they feel the cold desparately;setting such fine bones is a delicate procedure..insurance is an absolute must.Far too breakable for me I am afraid!

We have 2 naughty Iggies - if you are still looking for a breeder PM me and I will give you the details of the breeder I got both mine from. Italian Greyhound breeders are a bit odd and a bit warey of newcomers to the breed.
