If there wasn't the crisis with horses, nd shameless overbreeding wasn't an issue neither was money, time or land and facilities....

If you could breed a horse, what would it be and why?

I'd love to have three good quality tb mares and breed them to a really decent Friesian stallion, I'd keep them, produce them and let them do their thing in the ring/competition world, with some talented young riders, if they were up to it.

Knowing ebony and owning and riding her for years and also knowing other tb x friesians they make super talented beautiful sports horses that can turn a hoof to any Discipline.... I'd love to see more of them.

So, what's the dream horse you would produce and why?

And if someone says shettie x shire... That's just perverse:D

Well I love cleveland crosses - I think i'd buy a nice 3/4 cleveland mare and cover her with the eventer Pembridge Minstrel, he's got looks, movement, temperament and ability to die for. But we're not breeding any more for a few years and Minstrel is getting on a bit now so it probably won't happen.

I like coloured horses too, so if I got a homozygous quality mare, i'd cover her with Minstrel too!

My youngster that I just lost was turning out to be an incredible horse, so I'd breed more like him! He was out of an Andalucian, by an ISH. Beautiful cross, good brain, laid back, SERIOUS jump and beautiful paces.

I'd like to cross my Connie with a PRE - he has the PRE look about him anyway at times (especially when pratting around) so the baby would be beautiful :')

Limitless funds eh?

Unicorns. Definite must have:)

Seriously, something very hairy to something else very hairy to create something stupendously hairy and of interesting colour. Can you cross buckskin to silver dapple successfully?

I would like to breed from a mare from Zeus lines to the stallion Hemmingway. Reason being I have a 19 yr old by Hemmingway and a 6 yr old by a Zeus stallion. So a cross between the two would be awesome!

I'd like to cross an andalucian with either an Irish draft or big Irish cob :)
Preferably coming out liver chestnut with 4 white socks and a star ....

I was lucky to breed my dream horse a few years ago. He's nothing special with regards to parentage (he's out of my tbXconnie mare, by an american paint stallion) but he has a temperament to die for & is just such a nice horse to have around, so laid back & knows me & my ways just like I know (or have moulded) his ways. And to top it off he's a stunning buckskin tobiano!!

So if money was no object I'd have a yard full of his clones!

I have a quickstar gelding (sire of big star) who i would love to have as an entire although i think he would be fairly unmanageable. I have a dun connie filly who i would like to put to Legrande in the future.

If it was possible I'd like to make a dainty, whizzy show pony type in a 16hh size. There's so many fine 11hh ponies I wish I could hop on. I'd quite like a 17hh sec a too. And definitely a 17.2hh connie x tb.
In the realms of possibility though, a 16.2hh connie x tb. And I really regret not having the cash to put my connie x tb in foal when I was pregnant, would have had one sired by a small ja stallion for my daughter, & another from a tb or finer sports horse stallion for me.

Now I know you're insane... More hair:rolleyes::eek::p

Yes, you can have a silver dapple buckskin. :)

If you had a silver dapple palomino however, the SD wouldn't change the coat colour because it only shows on black based coats. The horse could pass the gene on to it's offspring though.

our sec b has been the best pony ever, super talented, so Id put her to a cremello arab stallion , and as she is a chestnut, we would get a lovely welsh arab x palomino......yummy:D.......hopefully with a bit of speed , showy, and clever:p

I'd get a nice compact bay tb mare and put her to legrande. Something like my ex racer who was put to sleep this year, only better put together! But she had a fab attitude and was very trainable. I might give kambarbay a go too

We need pictures! He sounds gorgeous :D

I'd breed YP to nice compact tb to hopefully get a 15.2 with his jumping style but a touch more honest and easier on the flat.

I would love to have a TB mare, and send her to Frankel. For no reason other than I can/could/did. The offspring (if good enough) would race, but if not, then be an eventer (not ridden by me!) but pampered all the same!

Also another one who would send a 'dun' mare to Legrande, oh for the love of a yard filled with 'duns'!!!
