Breeding... If you could...

I'd send Noodle ( the bay mare in my sig) to Arrayan Numa , the roan criollo stallion who only throws roan babies! Lovely temperament, lovely type and plays polo like her.

Love this roan baby he sired this year!

I would want to try to breed the best possible for eventing. I would go for Ghareeb (yes I know he is dead but this is purely a fantasy) with my now retired intermediate event mare. She was TB x cob but well put together. Her career stopped as she could not make the speed at inter so would have to be really good TB and I LOVE the Ghareeb babies. She was graded and had a foal to DiMaggio so know she would be good enough..!

My dream breedings would be - a chestnut filly foal from my grey and Rusleem. Plus a chestnut filly foal from my chestnut mare and WH Justice (although I would be happy with a grey with loud blood markings like WH Justice has).

The first foal (pure arab) would have a good percentage of Crabbet blood (always a good thing :D). The second foal would be 3/4 arab but using such a typey stallion should result in a very araby foal.

Or little coloured coblets like mine! He'd have fab foals and his temperament is to die for. I'd stick him to a bigger mare and aim for a proper hunter type, preferably coloured. Have to have his bits reattached first!!

I would put my mare to something european, lipizaner, andalusian or lusitano? Think it would really bring out the best of her movement and temperament with a bit more wow factor

I'd put my Current Appy mare to one of the heavier Appy stallions, to give the baby a bit more substance. If it were possible I would have cloned my Old Appy, but made sure that the baby was brought up with good manners and to be traffic proof!

We have a rather nice palomino Welsh colt and have a couple of mares lined up for him next year, fingers x'd we get the sort of welsh B we like, pretty colour will be a bonus :)

Well if we could breed anything at all then it could have any markings at all I suppose! Including postcode in a discreet place to deter thieves:)

I would like to breed a bunch of 16hh+ superponies including a highland, dales, haffie, fjord, exmoor, Connie, ok pretty much all of the ponies I have coveted over the years but been to big for! Oh and if they could be slightly more manageable than the incredible hulk so I am not killed by a tribe of super pony power.....

My number one would be a Camargue! They are so gorgeous I would love one 15hh+ and hold out hope that this may be a realistic find one day :-)

I would also like to experiment with really unlikely mixes because this is hypothetical... Icelandic x Arabian?

Aw, I was going to say ShettieXShire! Can you imagine?!

I'm going to say, although probably not possible, would be a Spanish horse X Zebra :D

I think it'd look something like this picture I did a while back...

Oh I like that... Or a zebra mini... Now that would be cool :D actually know of a chap think he is on the forum or was that had a dartmoor shire x... Made s cracking driving Cob type

Ooh yes Zebra! I knew a strangely put together western horse that was a dun with lovely dorsal stripe and quite pronounced zebra stripes on his legs, would love a striped horse :-)

Any excuse :D (Very old pic as he's only 5mths in this & is now 3 &1/2! but I can't figure out how to post pics from my facebook & my photobucket is a bit out of date!!)

ooohh, I would love to breed Connemaras, just love them. Plus Irish draughts.

Would breed both pure breds and part breds. Would really enjoy finding a perfect cross for all 3 disciplines.

OOhh the excitement of waiting to see what the end result would be

If only..

IME, the thing about breeding, is you never get what you think you are going to, despite the best laid plans and pedigrees .....

Of the three that I currently own, I have bred two. They are mother and daughter and nothing alike. The best you could say is they are both female and both chestnut, but different shades of chestnut.

Diva (daughter) is by the same stallion as the Arabian in my avatar. He is a 15.3 hh purebred gelding, she is 14.3 hh and a quarter TB. Go figure:confused: And they are nothing alike either.

I wouldn't trade any of them. :p

However, if I could have Zara's (mother) great-grand daddy, Indian Magic, for a season ...........

Thank you!!

Here he is 3yrs on & the start of his education:

Isn't it interesting that a lot of replies have said they would want a horse bred that they have/had again? Just shows how much we appreciate and adore the horses we come into contact with :)

As Farra is a well bred Clydesdale, it would be to another Clydesdale - best one I could find as I would only aim to breed the best.

A few folks have said put to a TB she would throw some cracking hunters but as the Clydesdale is a rare breed, I would only want to bred a pure bred to put something back into the gene pool.

If Stinky was a stallion, I would again breed to the best gypsy cob mare I could find very hairy and sturdy as he is a bit light in build and hair compared to some. He would also making a cracking cross with a TB as he has a very floaty movement and for a heavy cob, a very good jump so should make for a nice all rounder.

I'd want to put my beautiful PRE mare to a stonking ISH!! For me to keep.
album.php

If ever you get the chance, DO IT. I have just lost my 6yr old who was out of a PRE mare, by Miley, the coloured ISH stallion. He was breathtakingly beautiful, incredible movement, good attitude, intelligent, laid back, and incredibly easy to train.

Also, if you do, I want the foal!

My beautiful arab mare is my world - had her now 8 years - this year I decided to put her into foal with an amazing black Hannovarian stallion I'd seen a while back ... and voila, she's now nearly 7 months pregnant - so so excited. The foal is for me to keep so wont be adding to the ever increasing unsold market ... :D
