I've got a mare who is an ex international Show Jumper. She's won up to 1.30 classes, and jumped on the sunshine tour 4 times. She is a very nice mare, lovely tempermant and was sold in 2004 for £20K. I ended up with her and she was fabulous until we worked out she has got PSD. The dealer I got her off has said he would swap her, but the only horse he has come up with failed the vet and it has been dragging on now since May. So I am kind of giving up home of that and wondering what to do with the mare.
I've got a free covering with this stallion, FI Pleasure , the website is very out of date. So would only need to pay for the AI. Or I could go for another one.
My questions are....
Is it too late to put a mare in foal now?
Would I be better off waiting until next year?
When do most people want to buy foals?
Would you splash out on a bigger name stallion, or hope that you get a coloured?
What would you do?
Thank you for any help, even if it is don't do it.
