Ive seen on AAD lots of thresds about brewers yeast for dogs that scratch. My friend has a Westie that is always scratching, he has special James Wellbeloved food for dogs that scratch, but we understand scratching is a Westie thing, any how I told her to try him with the brewers yeast tablets, but her question is how many for him?
They dont really want to start with Prednisalone steroid tablets that the vet has reccomended, they want to try the natural route first, any other advice for scratching Westies would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

A lot of Westies scratch when given yeast & a lot scratch due to yeast on their skin.

Is the dog on a full exclusion diet as many people feed a hypo allergenic food and then ruin the effect by feeding treats?

Brewers yeast is used for fleas and ticks.

Every westie I have ever know has needed a grain free diet Nd jwb is like 50% grains.

Look into grain free fish4dogs or orijen.

Our Border Terrier had an allergy to pollen, hay and straw of all things. The only thing that helped him were sulphur tablets from the natural counter in the chemist; he also had rock sulphur from the pet shop permanently in his water bowl. I was warned to only give them when he needed them as otherwise he could possibly become immune to them and they wouldn't have worked at all. Think they're about a fiver for 100 tablets and I gave him two a day wrapped in a cheese slice when he was scratching but none at all when he wasn't; they worked very well for him (and he's about the same size as a Westie.
