How do you define a true bright bay?
I class my mare as bright bay, now shes been clipped she looks very orangey under her fur as aposed to my friends bay who is a greyish dark skin colour.
Can i see your pics of bright bays!

Our horse who is currently out on loan is a bright bay, and her coat varies hugely. When we got her she was a greyish bay. When she is clipped, her skin is greyish, and her winter coat is a mid brown. In the summer though she goes chestnut with a lovely copper sheen. Sorry no pictures, but I just wanted to make the point that bright bays can look like different horses at different times of the year.

My friends horse is what I would say is a bright bay. He shimmers in the sun in the summer, almost 'fish like'

Genie's passport says she's bright bay, I think she's more mahogany bay... When she's clipped she goes a lovely coffee colour....

My 6 1/2 month foal could be bright or dark or mahogany. Mare is bright, stallion dark and he is mainly toffee coloured but with darker hair coming through on his chest and shoulders and around his eyes. How long do they take to make up their mind?!

My mare is bright bay. She's a proper "Amber" brown in the summer and her coat has a gold sheen to it

When she is clipped, she goes orangey too

Yes I'd say they were both bright bays and beautiful with it. I hope my foal stays bright but his chest has quite a bit of dark hair coming in. Anyone had a bright bay from a foal and logged the changes of colour?

IMO i think bright bays change colour as the season goes on

She is so lovely. What breed? Did you show her? Her colour at 3 months is exactly what my boy looks like now so I can see he'll stay bright bay. Thank you for doing this.

Frankie is varies depending on time of year. He's 7 now and I've had him 2 years.
His winter coat is really rich conker coloured mahogany bay then in spring as he loses his coat he goes really dark for a few weeks and looks like he will go dark bay but then that lightens

His passport says dark bay so I assume he looked quite dark when that was done.

Late spring/early summer
He lightened a bit more from this
