Broken beagles

@Clodagh has a new doggy for Christmas - awesome, more than us!
Clodagh most definitely hasn’t. Clodagh’s OH has. 😁. Her brother went back today and we intended her to stay out until tomorrow as our son came home today and everyone’s overexcited. But she looked so sad she had a quick bath and in.
She has been in houses before, when walked and when she whelped. It’s mainly teaching paws on the floors.

I’m so pleased Tonic is staying. I know the effect of beagle eyes only too well!

I am just about ready to tell you all that the old boy in my posts 12 and 26 went drastically downhill shortly afterwards, and was pts. We miss him terribly. We collected him from his breeder between Christmas and New Year 15 years ago, so we are finding this time rather difficult. Full of memories, mainly of joy and laughter.

I only ever worked with one beagle and she made such an impact I even remember her name, Wilma. She was such a pleasant dog to work with. she would sit politely at the door with her tail wagging, wait for you to say she could go to the outdoor pen, immediately come back and into her kennel when asked and sat quietly for her lead to be put on. She didn’t pull and she was very friendly and probably spoke human. I know a lot of that is down to the lovely owner and training but I’ll always remember that little dog.

I'd have bet actual money of my own on you not keeping a beagle. You're going soft! 😂 😂
I’m absolutely not keeping a beagle. But as he points out, I can’t have 6 labs and object to one little old beagle. 😃. (5 at present, one on order).
However… she’s having to sleep with Scout as she screams if she on her own. We are hoping to wean her back to her own kennel gradually. She’s ok during the day.

Beagle has decided my OH is the only person worth knowing. He’s out today. I’ve just bought her in the house and she is just hunting for him. She’s currently convinced he is upstairs. No stair gate is stopping her. Gosh I am spoiled with labs!
Back in the kennel while I have a shower. Or the cage… just as well she is cute.

You know we talk ad infinitum about breeding leading to traits. Who knew that beagles were bred for noise, persistence and drive?
I have reached a stage in life where I really hate being inconvenienced. Beagles are not my cup of tea.
I also accept I’m being difficult as she now lives in (went for Scout in his kennel and won’t shut up on her own). It means I’ve got my kennel back but I’ve just moved on to being narked about her being in the house.
Tbh she’s a little trouble in as she can be… but I’m still narked !

At least she will settle indoors with the cage and company. Did you say, how old is she?

I am proper chuckling at your OH and the extending lead 🤣. They do have their uses!

How’s the boy farrier beagle doing?
She’s 8.
We will get a boy beagle update today. I’m not asking, he ain’t coming back!
