So.....have seen the boots of my dreams (De Niro Cesares in Oxford brown) on sale and my fingers are twitching to buy.....

However, I can't really justify another pair of boots if I can't compete in them and I can't really see Oxford brown going with my navy dressage gut up! I guess they are ok for showing with my green tweed, or will that be a bit frowned upon too?

I could get black in the De niro 'S2602' for the same sort of price, but I have never liked laced boots as much......

I love brown boots, however I don't compete in mine as they are a bit to manky to do so anymore ;)

There is someone on here who in there sig is competing in brown boots and beige jodhpurs with a navy jacket and they look really smart. So I would say you probably could compete in them :)y

I have just bought some brogini long boots in brown, specifically for competing. They are beautiful and my reckoning if you can wear brown jodhpurs boots in the ring, why not long boots. I show natives and have a brown tweed jacket, brown CO hat, canary jods, and brown leather whip or cane. It all looks very smart and at least among all the other ponies, I can be spotted as the one in the brown boots.....hopefully not for the wrong reasons!

Oh my days....well I couldn't resist.......have bought them. At £150, how could I not? Really hoping they fit - standard length of 45cm which should be fine as my Bromonts were a little too high at 48cm and all the other measurements were spot on (with a little breathing room!).

If anyone fancies indulging, check out the Brogini website....... https://www.brogini.com/default.cfm

I just bought a pair of size 38 de niro cesares in oxford brown. They were £150 and to be honest I thought they'd made a mistake on the website with the price as was so cheap!!

They arrived today and fit like a glove - they are gorgeous. Almost too smart for the yard though, feel like I should be wearing them as a fashion boot ;)

Call me old-fashioned but I'd never contemplate wearing brown boots with navy/black . To me it's akin to wearing a white stock with a tweed jacket ie. a total no-no. I only ever wear mine with ratcatcher.

I hope mine fit too - so I might not wear them for BD (well, probably not, as I also think the Oxford brown will be a bit clashy with navy), but I'm sure there will be many other occasions to wear them! The oxford isn't too orangey coloured then Hammie? They look lovely on the Dogwood website.

LEC - you just have to choose the boots labelled at £150 and then go through the size choices - if they have your fit, it will say at the end what colour they have them in :)

Pootleperkin you are in a lot of bother. It just so happens my riding boots broke just before christmas, and some I have been drooling over for a while just happened to be my size and £150 in the sale. Good thing I am getting my student loan through next week!

Id say the Oxford colour is quite bright! Sort of orange/brown/red... Was a mistake wearing them tonight with my red coat and pink fluorescent tabard!! ;p

Hey, just call it colour blocking!

I've noticed my winter high viz outfit is a bit clashy - yellow q-sheet, orange jacket and my navy and pink silk on my hat.....not very sartorial, but hey it gets me seen. Perhaps i'll add the boots to the mix (vomit!)

Up til recently have been competing with De Niro brushed brown (very, very dark brown - almost black) but with tweed hacking jacket as only competing at novice dressage/PN eventing. Unfortunately Sam is proving to be far too clever for his own good and we did our first elementary dressage test a few weeks ago so had to ditch the tweed!! Poured myself into my old navy Pikeur jacket (was it really that long ago that I used to wear it and it fitted:eek:). Luckily brown boots were so dark it didn't matter but felt a bit wrong. Don't need to worry now as OH bought me the same DN boots in black for Christmas - isn't he clever?!:D.

LOVE brown boots and I like navy and brown together... especially with white I think it looks kind of nautical (of course that's the look you're going for!) I have brown tack, it makes sense! Then again I'm a long way off from having to ditch the tweed :-)

I think people are so used to seeing black boots as they are more available,.and anyway in any other world since when does black and navy go?!

I compete in brown (and quite an orangey brown) but only with a tweed jacket. They stand out but people often comment on how nice they look! Not sure about Bs or BD but BE rules are that you can only wear brown boots with tweed up to novice level. I have worn them with a blue jacket unafil sj/d but agree with the others, they don't work with navy.

Well, I'm afraid to say I wore brown (Bromonts) and navy today, and actually I thought it looked quite nice, but didn't have any choice as my black leather gaiters have died.

My Christmas champagne breeches worked pretty well with the whole look I thought ( ;) ) and they are tremendously grippy! I felt very secure in the saddle :)

Will have to assess the orangy browness of the De Niros when they come and see if I think BD can take them! (I do think they will be a bit much though, traditionalists will be pleased to hear, so might just have to wear them elsewhere!).

This is the brown and navy as it stands.....don't think it is too bad

this is from today where clever pony was 2nd in his very first novice (and second ever BD)

Ignore the mutant finger...I'm always having bother with that ;) (dunno what is going on there!)
