So, now that Jasper is really using his hindquarters he is showing a slight tendency to brush behind, only gentle rubbing on the inside of the cornet band when he is working - but obviously I want to deal with this as early as possible so it doesn't become a problem, or result in him injuring himself.

I put a sausage boot on last night - would be interested in any views on these, or any other ideas

Over reach boots - i use them all round on Archie

I use 2 sausage boots- one on the front and one on the back as my TB can brush occasionally but he has very sensitive skin and cannot wear brushing boots for any length of time. The sausage boots work. I just leave them on 24/7 and just put on boots as well for schooling and jumping.

Speak to your farrier or if he is not up to the job then get a 2nd opinion with a remedial farrier that has a good reputation in your area, with good foot shape and specialist shoeing a farrier can change your horse's action to help with this.

My girl does the same when pushed to work hard, i used over reach all round as well as brushing boots - i found that once the muscles were developed the issue stopped.

I use the neoprene bell boots as you can position them exactly where you need them. Fly brushes across his hoof at the back sometimes until he warms up and these boots really do the job.

i used to use a sausage boot on my eventer as he brushed his coronet, the same as you have said your horse does.

stopped it immediately; i tended to put it on for flatwork and also on his long hacking days when he did 2+ hours of hilly roadwork, mainly trotting.

My mare brushed quite badly when I got her. She had been pretty much out of work and was very fat and unfit. She doesn't brush at all now, seems to have gone away completely now she's fitter and getting more muscled. I just use normal brushing boots which did the job.
