So, my o/h tonight has relieved some people of this little guy.
The story my o/h has been fed is they have lost their grazing and have tethered this poor little chap in the woods behind their house.
I am not easily shocked but for me this is truely upsetting as all the wee guy wanted was to be scratched and touched.
He is currently host to god knows what (lice etc) and is matted beyond belief.
His feet are shocking, he has no life in him, he has rubs from the chain he was tied to, and in fact looks almost ready to give up.
Tonight he has a stable, hay, water, and for him, most importantly he can hear others of his own kind.
A bit much for a baby to endure quite frankly.
These people have apparently tried selling him, giving him away, and were verging on just dumping him I fear, because every rescue they tried turned them away due to being full.
I now have the task of trying to put him right.
Both vets and farrier are coming tomorrow AM, and we shall go from there.
So for those Franchie lovers, maybe this will make you stop and think (at least I am HOPING it will!), you honestly dont need to go abroad to find "rescues"......they really DO exsist in the uk!

And so as not to leave you in any doubt, he looks worse in the flesh (or no flesh as is the case)

Good luck with him, very much looking forward to regular updates - thank God your OH brought him home.

Lord, that brought tears to my eyes

I bet underneath all that he is a lovely litle thing. I look forward to updates and I so glad he has went to someone so caring.

poor little baby, he looks like a deformed deer, think it must be a . tall story about being turned away by rescue people . keep us posted about his progress

Sadly PT yes, a very very young pony at that.
All I can hope is that my wonderfull farrier can do something with those god awful feet in the morning, and a good worming, delousing, and an MOT from the vet will see him on his way to looking like an actual pony.
We had to hog him straight after the pictures were taken. It was one big mat with lice running through it. In fact it was so tight to the neck we had trouble getting the clippers through.
Once he is free of his "lodgers" and his feet are seen to, he will be able to do the one thing I think he is craving, simply to be with the other youngsters (I am hoping my 2 yr old is going to adopt him, like she has the other two) and have a bit of fun out in the field.

Holy bloody sh!t! That poor, poor sad little mite. And what a sh!te story too - if things were that bad they could have had the poor little lad pts for god's sake. I thought my rescued mare Angel was in a terrible state and close to death when I took her on but that little lad...... How on earth do people sleep at night???? What breed is he J and how old? Is he weaned???? Is he safe and staying with you or will you be looking for a new home for him? Please PM me if so x

BOF I'll be honest, i cried when i saw him. I thought I was hard to shock, but nothing can prepare you for the sight of something so awful.
He is safe, and will continue to be so.
Breed? really couldnt say just yet. First I thought shetland, but an swaying more towards maybe a dartmoor? Age wise I dread to think, but certainly under a year, his "bits and bobs" have yet to drop, but I shall get a better look in the light tomorrow, though given the skin and bone state of him, he hasn't seen his mum in a long while.
The main goal for now is to get his feet sorted, get some weight on him, and get him in with the other foalies, as I left for the night, he was calling to the mini's across the yard.
When he heard the mini's he perked up almost instantly.
All he needs now is a name!

I dont know how the people who caused the wee chap to get in that state can live with themselves.

Good luck with him and thank you for saving the poor soul. xx

Poor little sod does not deserve the existence he has had. Pure ignorance.
Good luck hope he comes right.
Had a quick look at Stolen Horse Register, Shetland foals are missing but difficult to tell age with all that mat.

i think braveheart would suit that poor little mite, god that brought tears to my eyes, how lucky he is to have found you your OH is a saint as are you.

Lets hope tomorrow keeps his future bright xx

OMG....thank god you now have him safe joanne....

What a damn shame, poor wee soul looks like he has completely given up. Heartening to hear him talking to the others so hopefull he'll pick up.
