Hello, as said above, my mare won’t stop bucking when I’m riding, it’s just gotten to the point where It isn’t enjoyable anymore.
She used to be fine, did anything I’d ask but now she bucks whenever I ask for something apart from slowing down.
I ask for walk, she pins her ears.
I ask for trot, she bucks.
I ask for canter, she bucks.
I ask her to speed up a bit, she bucks.
My first thought was maybe the saddle was causing pain, I tried bareback but she still bucked.
I then thought maybe she got arena sour, I took her on a hack, she Bucks.

I really don’t know what to do anymore..

This isn't behavioural, she is in pain and is desperately trying to tell you, she is SHOUTING at you. Speak to your vet and have her given the once over. I would assume pain? Ulcers? Dont delay.
Our trainer said it was because she’s fresh.. I’ll try and get a vet out asap although there aren’t any where I live now.

Ask yourself, why would she put her ears back when you ask her to walk if she's fresh? She'd be ears forward and keen to go.
First time horse owner, 2 trainers and one horse owner telling me she’s just fresh, I was questioning it, that’s why I posted it on the forum in the first place.
Got my answer, will bring a vet out.

They’re telling you that because they want more money to train your horse for you. Where do you live? We have a few members who may know vets in your country.

UPDATE

We put her completely off work for 2 days until the vet arrived, he checked her back and withers and recommended we got a western saddle. He asked me to ride her so he could see how she bucked but she didn’t even kick one leg up so he told us it would have just been a behavioral problem. He then did a scan to cross kissing spine of the list and saw the was a little build up on her vertebrae that could cause discomfort but nothing to be alarmed about since she didn’t react to the girth being tightened or me riding her today.
He said that I can continue riding her.

If she’s not bucked after 2 days off, it might that she’s feeling less sore?
So the more you work her, the worse she is.
Give her time off and she recovers slightly, enough to allow for a demonstration

how long have you had her and when did this behaviour start?
Do you have copies of the X-rays - a lot of folk on here have a LOT of experience with KS.

sounds odd for extreme bucking have resolved with 2 days off and a western saddle. Bareback is also uncomfortable on a sore back if your seat ones dig in

I didn’t receive a copy of the scans but I’ll see if I can get my hands on them.
I’ve had her since 7 September, On the 5th october I tested positive for COVID so I didn’t ride her for 10 days.
When I tested negative on the 13th I went out and started riding again and that’s when the behavior started.

Also, what is her diet and how much turnout on grass does she get?
She gets turnout all day( although with the amount of heavy rain we’ve had there’s more mud than grass left) , goes in at night. She has 2 scoops of barley and one of corn morning and night, 36g of muscle bone supplement. she gets turnout in the alfalfa field for an hour a day and hay is out for her whenever she wants it.
Now we will be giving her a sachet of vitamins and gastric supplement ( as recommended by the vet )

Can you get her scoped for ulcers and send off hair for pssm1? Have she seen a dentist recently?
Our vet took a blood sample for some tests, he also checked her teeth and said they were ok. The gastric supplement is also used to treat ulcers (gastroguard) so wether or not she has them she’s covered. Will mention pssm1 though, haven’t heard of it before.

Monday you said there were no vets in your area. Thursday she's had a full vet check including spine x rays. That was a quick turnaround. Is it normal to ride in western saddles in Romania? It seems an odd suggestion from a vet.

Did you ride for the vet in the same saddle that she was bucking in?

The full vet check was because the vet came from quite far away so he did most of it in one trip. I managed to find the vet in a different county through an old instructor.

English is more common in Romania but western isn’t that uncommon.
And yes I rode for the vet in the same saddle she was bucking in.

I'm confused about how much gastroguard she's getting, is it the full dose to cure them if she has them? In this country it's normal to use sucralfate at the same time to clear any ulcers in the hind gut as well.

Do you know why he recommended the Western saddle? Did he find evidence of a badly fitting saddle, like back soreness?.

I have just read back and looked at the timeline. You rode for the first month you owned her with no issues, then had 10 days off and started again and she had been bucking 5 days when you started this thread on Monday. Then you gave her 2 days off and now she's stopped again. I think you need to get her back in regular work and see what happens, and keep a diary of when she does what.

The feed is odd too. Alfalfa, barely and corn seems to be a lot of feed for a horse who is not in a lot of work. Does she need that feed? As said i think she needs regular consistent work.

She’s a rescue, her blood tests came in and she’s healthy, but she’s still a bit on the skinny side in the hind end and she still needs a little the extra weight. We will remove the corn and give her a cup of barley (instead of 2) with the supplements in a few weeks. Everything we’re doing has been recommended by the vet and our trainer.

For weight gain cereals aren't great.... Can you get something like micronised linseed? Or, boiled linseed if you have to buy straights?
If she still very underweight though she might be lacking muscle and bucking because she feels unbalanced and/or be being pinched across bony bits, even if the saddle fits, so it might be worth just doing gentle exercise without a rider until she is a healthy weight.
She looks a very pretty genuine little mare ?
