Buying a horse - Have you ever bought the opposite to what you were looking for?

I was looking for a 15h connemara x gelding all rounder/hunter. Nothing younger than 8 definitely not a mare especially a chestnut one, must travel well and be good when left on their own.

What did I buy…

An 8yo Haflinger mare who doesn’t hunt very well or travel, She has real issues with being on her own but I wouldn’t change her for the world
