Hello!
Has anyone ever brought unseen projects from Ireland? If so can you pm or post on here any recommended people, looking for a little project or too to tick over in the winter and maybe sell next year

Yes, I've bought twice .

Both through a local dealer with a good rep. I told him what I wanted and he found it at one of his three 'producers' he used. He regularly ships horses over from them, uses them in his riding school for a short while to asses then sells on. It's not worth the irish dealers while messing him about and he's honest and trustworthy.

The horses are exactly as they said on the tin. Big, green, sensible and honest. They're well bred with lines known to have easy temperaments. They weren't polished or 'produced' in any way and needed work but I knew that and it was reflected in the price.

You need to be competent and confident and capable to buy unseen. I was confident I could work through most issues if they arose and have experience of making youngsters into nice useful members of Equine Society, even if they lack schooling polish . The horses are a blank slate and if there's issues it's most likely MY fault.

Having them vetted and shipped over adds about £400. I wouldn't buy unvetted.

If 'clicking' with your horse is essential, you're fussy about exactly what you want or you want something foot-perfect and ready to go straight away then buying unseen is not a good idea.

If your horse criteria is simply ' xxx height, xxxx age range (and even colour) with a sensible temperament' than it's worth having a look buying unseen.
