Are you an UK-based equestrian who receives regular coaching or has done so recently?
You are being invited to participate in a MSc research study titled "The rider's perception of the rider/coach relationship". This study is being conducted by myself and my supervisor, Lorna Cameron, from University Centre Sparsholt.
The purpose of this research study is to investigate horse-rider's viewpoint of the rider/coach relationship by examining the rider's choice of their coach and their feelings about coaching behaviours. The survey should take you approximately 12 minutes to complete. Your participation in this study is entirely voluntary and you can withdraw at any time, but by completing the survey you agree to participate.
We believe there are no known risks associated with this research study; however, as with any online related activity the risk of a breach is always possible. To the best of our ability your answers in this study will remain confidential. We will minimize any risks by storing raw data on a password-protected computer and anonymising all data should the results be accepted for publication in peer-reviewed journal.
Please note that because of the format of some of the questions, the form is best viewed on a computer but is able to be completed on smart phones. If you know of other people who are suitable and would be happy to participate in this study, please share the link.
Thank you for your time!

done. It didn't take anywhere near as long as you mentioned in your OP by the way, that was a bit off putting when I first opened this thread.

Done - As with Milliepops, didn't take 12mins. I'd also suggest some response would be good to have 'all of the above' as an option, i.e. I am training to improve my riding, for competitions and training my horse and although some lessons will focus more on one aspect, long term I'm wanting to achieve all 3.

Also, I couldn't give a truthful answer to the question about whether I am a leisure or competition rider. The answer is neither! I'm working towards an exam, don't have my own horse so don't compete at present.

Done, found it very quick and simple, I have also forwarded it onto a couple of my friends-as a ma students I understand your pain about survey response rates!

No point in me doing the survey, as I don't compete/train with anyone any more. Re response rates, an idle musing...Throughout the year, we get rashes of students joining the forum specifically to get people to do their surveys, then they disappear, never to be seen again. I feel that the response rate would be better, if these people revisited to share the results of their research - as a thank you to people for giving their time away to help. Not a dig at the OP, just an observation!

That is an interesting observation and certainly one to be borne in mind. There is an option on the survey to include contact details to be kept informed of the results but sharing them on forums where participants were recruited from does seem like good form.
