if mine can see my car from the field when i pull up one of them does call me. but i just go to the field and bang the clip from the lead rope on gate and they run over. i must say this is the first two to do this. before with the ponies they were not as good

At the moment they have less grass in the field and are coming in for food so I shout 'oi, fatties', Meg canters up the field, and chloe eventually makes her way up in her own time.
Most of the time I shout variations on the fatty theme repeatedly whilst they ignore me.

If the horses are in the paddock where I am then they come over and follow me around like lost sheep until I actually want them. Sometimes I have to go and grab him. And on very rare occasions he may walk away so thats when I stand still and say "Excuse me" in a stern voice. He stops, turns his head and puts it in the headcollar!!! Its quite amusing when people watch me catch him like that!!!

I don't get a chance to say anything, the moment they see me there is a stampede for the gate and they are waiting there. They don't even get tit bits! I have never managed to sneak up to the gate yet.

When I was on a yard before and the horses were often at the end of a long field I had my boys coming to me when I banged the metal gate with a stone, it used to work really well, until the others caught on and I had 10 horses galloping to me.

When you call your horse is it just him that comes, or do you have the whole lot come to see what's going on too?

SSM..........I love the sound of your Donkey. A sort of "Yeah, Hi, I'll be with you when I've finished this - maybe"

if mine see me come on the yard they come up, but otherwise i just have to whistle. impressed my OH no end one night when we drove up in the car and i whistled, and my gelding came to a sliding stop from a gallop, in the car headlights. (only because i was late with his dinner tho)

Yep, takes life at HER pace, but is so kind and gentle with it that she is forgiven!

Either with a whistle or a shout of 'Oi, you lot! Tea Time!'
Yesterday had to get them in as they were all quaking from the cold and torrential rain, whistled to them but they couldn't bare to turn around and walk into the rain, so reversed up the field, LMAO!
I didn't have my phone on me, but would have LOVED to have filmed my 4 backing all the way up the field!

mine hear my car coming up the drive and are waiting in pecking order by the gate, mine 4 are greddy buggers summer and winter

My two normally trot over unless theyre particularly hungry and they will canter/gallop over. Very occasionally only my yearling will come over and my gelding will just ignore my, but only very occassionally.

Usualy yell for them and they wander over.. unless it is torrential rain then they stand by the hedge and call to me to keep them company walking back over (or they just want me as wet as them

the mare does that, or tries getting up the field without facing into the rain whcih is quite funny as she is often coming up the field sideways and tries to back up to the gate so she doesnt get her face wet. the gelding just belts up to me so he can come in

My TB comes over as soon as I go to the gate. My sisters pony generally follows him or if she's in a different field she'll come when she's called. My guy's always been great to catch - I'm sure he'd go with anyone who came in his field with a headcollar!

My sisters pony used to be impossible though, so I love seeing her come to meet us!

A nice loud wolfwhistle does the trick every time for both of mine. Even though they're in different fields they both come up and then one has to wait while I fetch the other in.

My friend whos horses are in the field next door have learnt it to so will only come to a wolf whistle, which has really bugged my friend as she's not the wolf whistling kind!

Its landed me in trouble a few times if YO's husband is wandering around, or their gardeners!!!!!

If he sees me arrive, he's waiting at the fence for me by the time I get up to it, if he's grazing or hasn't heard me come up, I just shout "Hey Sexy Boy" (he has a -Donkey from Shrek doing his "I'm a Noble Steed" - attitude to life)and he spins round, nickers at me and comes charging over. Have to be careful that there's no one else about though....!

I have to sneak through the grass on my belly, headcollar shoved up my jumper. Occasionally the odd bush allows me to crouch. I wait patiently, hardly daring to breathe and when he gets close enough... I grab his mane, then arms go round the neck... Got im!!!! Then I have to wiggle the headcollar from beneath jumper without letting it fall to the floor, put it on using head and teeth......cant let go...cos if i so much as ease the hold....he's off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
