Firstly last thursday I had entered Pip for an UA nov and elem, however he was so badly behaved before it I decided he wasn't to be trusted in a snaffle (I know, I know- He was fit and then had had a bit of a break as I was busy so bouncing out of his brain, normality has resumed now exams are done!) so Calvin got the chance to go and play at the novice, which I had been avoiding as it's quite stressful taking them both without people on the ground! He coped with the new venue for him perfectly, and did everything he was told, though it is evident he is large and green when trying to get him round a 40X20! The main thing the judge picked up on was the fact he was struggling for space (which I know partly comes down to balance and suppleness) and he got about 60% (Can't remember :o ) and 4th/8, which was fab for him :D
Onto Pip who appeared to be on speed where Calvin was on dope  and other than a few dramatics in the warm-up debating just how many beats are in a canter he did a decent enough test. Tense trot work but 7's for all the canter work, however I did go wrong, twice :o The caller called it wrong twice, not that I'm blaming them- but had I known they weren't confident calling it I'd have learnt it in the warm-up ;)
No moving pictures but in the trailer on the way home to show the size difference!

Then onto today where I took C to a new venue to both of us to do a PQ and N BD :) Again he was totally chilled and perfectly behaved- that's the most important thing to me at this stage tbh! Classes were small (6 each) but as ever we were pretty intimidated in the warm up- this is something I have to work on- at driving I'm fine but at dressage I end up playing dodge the others even though mine is perfectly behaved and then I don't warm him up properly. The trot work in P13 was solid, tbh the canter was a bit disappointing as we've been getting it together recently but in the tight indoor he didn't trust himself to canter forwards enough to go into the contact and I couldn't balance him enough to help. 3 of us all got 65% but luckily I had the best collectives so won :D Pleased I got a 7 for riding as I always feel if the horse is getting 7s for paces and you're getting 6s for riding you're the clear weak link ;) ;) :o So that's us 1/2 qualified for the winter regionals, with ages to go to get the 2nd sheet :D
Onto the novice, which again was a big ask for him as although at home we're schooling at that level easily at home and in an arena where the walls are the edge he's a very lanky green thing for me to be able to help round. Trot work went fine- first part well with a slight loss of balance with 10m 1/2 circles to change the rein and second part slightly rushed. canter was much improved and he stayed with me for both g+rs and didn't throw a wobbly about cantering the long diagonals :) We got 5s for mediums, and for one canter transition, which is fair, though he is showing some medium now and it's going in the right direction, so far he's not getting much 'sit' away from home but I'm sure it's coming :) Finished on 60.7% and 2nd in the restricted so that's another point for him :)

Slowly but surely we seem to be getting there :) I've had him almost exactly a year now, and he's just turning 5 this week :)

Sandringham national driving 3DE for Pip weds-sunday, then hopefully C can get to some more prelims to see if we can get qualified during the summer holidays :D Good lanky legs is much in favour atm, I'm so lucky to have him :)

Lindors or vodka going spare ;)

Has it really been nearly a year?! Where does the time go

Sounds like it is all coming together, well done on the win :D
