Hi,

My mare is IDxTB, but a bit more on the ID side. We've mostly been doing showjumping until this year, but I want to try her at working hunter this summer as I've been told she would be great for it.

I know the basic structure of the classes and have an idea of what to wear, but wondered if anyone has any great tips, particularly anything that's specific to hunter classes!

This is my Penny, does she look like the right kind of type for the job?

Oooh I love pointers... would like the german variety!

Well Holly88, your girl is gorgeous if I may say so, she has the face of a real distinguished hunter lady!

Get a plain cavesson bridle for her, I'm sure you have some tweed for yourself and get yourself to next WH class. It's not much different to SJ, just do the jumps in the requested order and do a show. Make sure you display a proper gallop for a few strides.

Ah thanks Tallyho! Of course you may say so hehe :) glad she's the right type.

Yes, I will need to get her a new bridle I think.

Thanks for the tips!

Yeh i agree - tweed and preferably boots rather than jod boots and chaps. Don't worry about a FLAT-OUT-CAN'T-STOP-HELP-ME gallop, as long as she is seen stretching out!
She looks just right - and good luck! xx

Aww thanks Clement82 and Sanolly - really nice of you to say!

Ah thanks for that Welshponylover, good to know I don't need to bomb her. Hopefully that way it won't be a case of 'help can't stop!'

Thats ok - only i went to a class once it was only Pony Club Pony but one of the girls did a full blown gallop and it took about 3 laps for her to stop! :D

Also make sure your girly looks even more stunning than in the picutre - she is a stunner!
