Connie has had a bad allergic reaction to something.
She has large swollen areas all down one side if her neck and a big bald patch on the same side, and she's lost some of her mane.
Vet was called straight away and she had quite a bit of Cortizone and something else but i can't remember the name.
Vet guesssed most likely was an insect sting or bite but doesn't quite know about the bald patch.
She's got a high temperature and is really not herself.
YO and everyone is quite worried though as she is 27 and vet said the swelling should have gone down by now, but it was still the same. She is coming out again tomorrow if there's still no change in the morning

it would be so upsetting to lose her to something like this!

hope she soon on the mend - she looks really sweet (((((((((((((((((((((( ))))))))))))))))))))))) x x

Oh goodness, in all my years i've never seen anything like that! Must be an allergic reaction. Im sending some very special vibes to Connie and hugs to you too. HHO positive vibes on their way ++++++++++++++++++++++

I have seen a reaction like that before, it was when we used some magic stain remover on my old grey mare ( she was 25 at the time), she was under the weather for a few days while the skin was tender, but she was fine in the end.
Good vibes on their way, but try not to worry too much. xx

if the vet cannot offer anything then definitely talk to Ainsworths - homeopathic medicine may be the answer here

my pony had lymphangitis and urticaria at different times and equine america Lamiguard helped as that is designed to remove this sort of toxin from the system

I had a horse who had a similar reaction to that, except he did not have a bald patch and it was from fly spray, we did cold hose it to try and reduce swelling and he did enjoy it cos seemed to relieve it, it also brought his temperature down, we had to ban that particular flyspray from the yard in the end cos he would get the reaction when rubbing against another horse

Good vibes coming your way!

Hi there

I dont want to panic you as it does look like allergic reaction but has your vet checked her trachea? My boy got a bad kick to his trachea which split but with no outward sign of cut or damage whatsoever. My first vet was convinced it was a sting....the 2nd opinion was that horse was taken in and a camera down his throat revealed a split trachea. The good news is you cant really treat it and it heals on its own usually.

However, your horse does appear to have rubbed also...which is what mine did for some odd reason. The swelling on my boy was due to escaped air from the windpipe (trachea) not dispersing quickly...and it does annoy the horse in some way.

Worth checking out if no-one else has any answers and it doesnt get better, can be slight kick that does it from another horse and no sign whatsoever of wound or cut on the outside.

Hope neddy gets better soon x

she's had no flyspray or anything, it's not allergic to any spray or substance.

ok thanks!
she's not mine but i'll see her again on Sunday and i'll mention to YO about that.
