'Can I cuddle your horse..?'

Haha, no way would I want to involve her in my horse time (and my horse is ridiculously cuddly and perfect for letting kids cuddle him). I'd tell her the YO or landowner (they can be made up if you are the YO/landowner) doesn't allow you to take visitors there.
 
Have to say I feel a little sorry for the lady who wants a cuddle.

Not everyone workign in charity shops is fully able and it sounds as though this lady has some issues with communication at least.

I thought giving her the RDA details was a lovely idea.
 
Normally i don't mind people coming to see mine as long as i am there and it is arranged.Sounds like the lady is a bit ermm lacking in something, she does sound strange but it doesn't make her a bad person. Might make her really happy to go visit a horse However, if one was sick i think i would be too stressed and uspet to have anyone there that i was going to have to keep a strict eye on. I think i would explain that to this woman and say that once things have changed then we could arrange something. .

Sure OP would know if this woman had some kind of mental disability, she has spoken with her & I doubt she'd feel this way or have said some of the things in her OP if the lady was disabled.
 
my horse comes to school with me(lucky me, not so lucky him as no holidays poor lad)
anyways people always ask if they can come and ride and groom him, i don't mind the grooming but sometimes they can be so silly and just walk all around him luckily hes a dope on a rope, but i would never let them ride him as he is a baby and one sharp pull on the rains and we're back to square uno...

if i was you i would just make her watch some youtube videos with the badly handled horses and see if she still wants to 'cuddle' your horses! :p
 
Bless, I'm sure her heart is in the right place but unfortunately if you have her visit one time you will never hear the end of it!

I like people coming to see my horse, I've not had her long and feel lucky to have her, but there are some people who make things awkward and won't take no for an answer. I don't like upsetting people and sometimes its better to be cruel to be kind so you don't end up having to be really cruel and feel bad about it, or spending a lot of your time supervising people with your horse and resenting it!

RDA, horse charity, those are lovely ideas, try to be positive and offer alternatives and she can do her puss in boots stare at poor homeless donkeys instead!

Hey she can come to my mare - she'll soon get shown where to go. Roo's practicing 'devil faces' at the mo :eek::eek: (all show and no substance tho)
 
Shame, she sounds lonely, it is not nice to be lonely, wouldnt hurt just once, your horses cant be that dangerous, she probably wouldnt cuddle them anyway.

Whilst I do kind of agree with you, I have a feeling this would not be "just once" and I do agree with other posters that the failure to listen to what OP has already said would concern me a) when she was actually around them to listen to what she was/wasn't being asked to do and b) that she may then start taking it upon herself to visit even if OP says no.

With a horse which is ill as well, I don't think OP is being harsh by saying no, but would suggest telling the lady in question about RDA etc.

FWIW, someone like that [as OP has specified] would not go anywhere near Bailey, unless I could be sure they would do as I asked. Yes, I am lucky to have him, but I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth and worked hard to buy him, bring him up and produce a nice riding horse. Like many others, I go without a lot to have him, so I do get my back up when people assume they can do as they wish because he is mine.

He is my pride and joy and I am careful as to who I bring up to be around him as he is a sensitive chap.
 
I caught a walker having left the footpath with their arms around my foals neck. I could see from a distance that her body language was on attack and bearing in mind she has had major issues attacking people I don't think I have ever run so fast in my life. After detangling the walker (still alive somehow) and explaining why their actions were a very bad idea they just said they wanted a cuddle, anyway she was cute
 
My farmer asked to cuddle my horse early last summer when I hacked over to pay the yard rent...he had never bothered with the horses before and I think he was a bit over emotional as his wife had walked out. I really felt for him.
